A grand celebration of the Chhath festival will be held at 1000 ghats created by the AAP Government in Delhi. Taking to Twitter, (erstwhile X) to offer his wishes to everyone on the commencement of the celebrations, AAP National Convenor Arvind Kejriwal wrote, “As Chhath Mahaparva begins with ‘Nahay Khaye’ today, Delhi government has constructed more than 1000 magnificent Chhath Ghats so all devotees can worship near their homes. May the blessings of Chhathi Maiya always remain on everyone.”
Extending her best wishes for Chhath, CM Atishi stated, “Our Purvanchali community is an integral part of Delhi. Thanks to Arvind Kejriwal Ji’s efforts, they no longer need to travel to distant villages to celebrate Chhath.”
She added, “Until 2014, Delhi had only 60 ghats. Now, with over 1000 Chhath ghats, Purvanchali residents can celebrate the festival close to their homes.” CM Atishi further noted, “The Delhi Government’s initiatives have turned Chhath into a festival celebrated by all residents of Delhi, not just Purvanchalis.”
Extending her greetings for the start of Chhath, CM Atishi said, “With the ‘Nahay-Khay’ ritual, the Chhath Mahaparv has begun today. For our Purvanchali brothers and sisters, Chhath is the most significant festival of the year. There was a time when Purvanchalis residing and working in Delhi had to face crowded buses and trains to return to their villages for Chhath.”
CM Atishi expressed, “We are pleased that, for the past 10 years, under the guidance of Arvind Kejriwal Ji, the Aam Aadmi Party government has ensured that the Chhath festival is celebrated with grandeur in Delhi. This ensures that Purvanchalis living and working here don’t have to leave the city to observe this festival.”
She continued, “Our Purvanchali brothers and sisters are an inseparable part of Delhi. This is their home, too. In keeping with this tradition, a grand celebration of Chhath Mahaparv is happening across Delhi this year.”
CM Atishi announced, “on the day of Sandhya Arghya (the evening offering) on 7th November, the Delhi Government has declared a holiday. Additionally, over 1000 Chhath ghats are being constructed by the Delhi Government across the city. The tradition of celebrating Chhath with grandeur at this scale in Delhi began 10 years ago.”
She shared that before Arvind Kejriwal became Chief Minister in 2014, only 60 ghats were constructed in Delhi. “Today, under his guidance, over 1000 Chhath ghats are being built by the Delhi Government.”
Artificial ghats are being created by the PWD and the Irrigation and Flood Control Department. The Delhi Jal Board is arranging water, and the Health Department is providing medical facilities at major ghats, with doctors and nurses stationed there. The Revenue Department is ensuring tents, lights, and sound arrangements at these ghats, while the Maithili-Bhojpuri Academy is organising cultural programs at the larger ghats.
CM Atishi stated, “No Purvanchali in Delhi will have to travel more than 1-2 kilometers to celebrate Chhath Mahaparv. I am delighted that these efforts by the Delhi Government have made Chhath a festival not only for Purvanchalis but for all Delhiites.”
On her X ( erstwhile Twitter) handle, CM Atishi posted, “Best wishes to everyone on the start of the Chhath Mahaparv. With ‘Nahay Khaye,’ this grand festival has begun across the nation today. There was a time when our Purvanchali brothers and sisters had to travel far to their villages from Delhi to celebrate Chhath. However, under Arvind Kejriwal Ji’s guidance, this festival has been celebrated with grandeur in Delhi for the past 10 years. This year as well, more than 1000 magnificent Chhath ghats have been set up by the Delhi Government, so devotees don’t have to travel far from their homes to celebrate. Thanks to these efforts by the Delhi Government, Chhath has become a festival for all Delhiites, not just the Purvanchali community.”
