Raising serious questions over transparency in governance, AAP Delhi State President Saurabh Bharadwaj said that the BJP-led Delhi Government has now extended data fraud beyond air pollution to the Yamuna river itself. He pointed out that for the past three months, following his exposé, the government under CM Rekha Gupta and Water Minister Parvesh Verma has stopped publishing official Yamuna pollution reports altogether. Drawing a clear contrast, he reminded that the Delhi Government under Arvind Kejriwal had consistently released monthly Yamuna pollution data since 2014, calling it a basic hallmark of accountable governance.
The AAP Delhi Unit Chief further pointed out that the current government is even blocking scrutiny, refusing access to sewage treatment plants and pollution data for the NGT (National Green Tribunal)-appointed IIT Delhi expert panel, deepening concerns over deliberate concealment of the river’s true condition.
Resharing his last exposé on Yamuna water pollution, in which he had shared a Delhi Pollution Control Committee (DPCC) report on X, AAP Delhi State President Saurabh Bharadwaj wrote: “Do you know this was the last lab test report on Yamuna pollution published by the Delhi Government? After my expose, for the last three months, the Delhi Government under Water Minister Parvesh Verma and Chief Minister Rekha Gupta has stopped publishing Yamuna pollution reports. Data fraud is not just limited to AQI data anymore, Yamuna data is now also being suppressed,” Saurabh Bharadwaj stated.
He further reminded that under the previous AAP government, transparency had been institutionalised. “It should be noted that the Delhi Government under Arvind Kejriwal had been publishing monthly reports on Yamuna pollution since 2014. That is what an accountable and transparent government looks like, headed by an IITian,” the post concluded.
In another post, while sharing a news report, the AAP Delhi Unit Chief stated: “Delhi Government is not even allowing the IIT Delhi team access to STPs and pollution data. The NGT had appointed an IIT expert panel to review the functioning of 37 sewage treatment plants, but the Delhi Government is not cooperating and is denying access…”
In October 2025, Saurabh Bharadwaj had pointed out that the suppressed data had revealed alarming levels of pollution in the Yamuna. “As per the DPCC report dated 23.10.2025, the water in the Yamuna is not even suitable for bathing. The report clearly shows that the river water is extremely polluted and contains human waste in alarming quantities,” he had stated.
He had warned that the consequences of concealing such data were grave and politically motivated. “For the sake of false propaganda and Bihar elections, BJP leaders want poor Purvanchali children to even drink this water. These children can fall seriously ill, they can even die. This is despite the fact that the Haryana Government had diverted the entire water of the Eastern Yamuna Canal into the Yamuna for seven days. Once this diversion stops, pollution levels will worsen further and the BJP will stand exposed once again,” Saurabh Bharadwaj had said.
