The collapse of a government school roof in Rajasthan’s Jhalawar district, which claimed the lives of innocent children, has sparked sharp outrage. The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has squarely held the BJP-led administration accountable for “murder by negligence.” Calling the incident a consequence of systemic apathy, senior AAP leader and former Delhi Education Minister Manish Sisodia said, “This is not an accident—it is a murder caused by a government that treats access to quality education as a crime.”
Manish Sisodia pointed out that when he built world-class school infrastructure in Delhi, the BJP responded not by emulating it, but by weaponizing central agencies like the Enforcement Directorate (ED) and Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) against him.
Sharing a media report on the collapse of a government school building in Jhalawar, Rajasthan, senior AAP leader and former Delhi Education Minister Manish Sisodia wrote on X that the tragedy claimed the lives of five children and left more than 30 injured. “This devastating news from a government school early this morning is heartbreaking. I pray for the speedy recovery of the injured children and for strength to the families grappling with this unimaginable grief.”
Manish Sisodia further stated that this is not an accident—“This is murder. This is murder caused by government negligence. Behind this tragedy is a political regime that considers providing children with quality education and infrastructure to be a crime. As Education Minister in Delhi, I ensured the construction of world-class school buildings. And in return, the BJP slapped false ED and CBI cases against me. Think about the innocent children and their families in Rajasthan. Parents sent their children to school with faith, hoping it would build their future. There is no greater sorrow than a child leaving for school and never returning. The BJP has turned schools—not into temples of learning—but into death traps.”
Leader of Opposition (LoP) in the Delhi Assembly and former Delhi CM Atishi also held the system’s failure responsible and said on X: “This is not an ordinary accident—it is institutional cruelty. The roof collapse in a Jhalawar school has claimed innocent lives and injured dozens more. For families who have lost their children, the pain is beyond words. May God give them strength. In BJP-ruled states, government schools are in a dilapidated state, yet those in power have no concern for education or the safety of children. How many more poor children will have to die before they take responsibility?”
Meanwhile, AAP Delhi State President Saurabh Bharadwaj posted on X: “Had this happened in a Kejriwal government school, it would have dominated prime-time news for seven consecutive days. Anchors would have screamed for accountability. BJP leaders would have queued up to meet victims’ families. The media would have aired emotional live interviews with grieving parents. A circus of CBI inquiries would have been launched in the name of justice.”
