Senior AAP leader and MP Sanjay Singh questioned the BJP-led central government again on a consecutive day, for its failure to control terror threats and lawlessness. He said that the government was forcing citizens to live under fear. He added that under the BJP in centre, internal security has crumbled to alarming lows, leaving the nation gripped by fear.
With bomb threats now targeting airlines, temples, and schools, including a chilling warning of 60 threats against flights, the AAP MP demanded accountability from the BJP-led central government for this spiralling crisis, stating that they would be directly responsible if the threats take the shape of reality.
Senior AAP leader and Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Singh voiced his concerns, stating, “I am speaking at a time when the entire nation is gripped by fear, terror, and anxiety. Under the BJP government, internal security has deteriorated to the point where airlines are receiving threats, with as many as fifty flights warned of simultaneous attacks.”
Sanjay Singh further stated that temples, schools, and other public places are now targets of bomb threats. People travelling by air or visiting airports feel uneasy, fearing potential attacks on flights. Even the nation’s Parliament faces security concerns; recently, under the Modi government, a group of young individuals entered its grounds. Although they posed no physical threat, the breach raised serious security concerns.
He shared the specific incidents, “Starting August 22, 2024, a wave of bomb threats has targeted multiple flights. It began with a threat to an Air India flight and then an Indigo flight from Jabalpur to Hyderabad on September 1st, followed by Air India flights on September 4 and October 15, and a Vistara flight on September 6. On October 17 and 21, threats were issued against flights by Akasa Air, Air India, SpiceJet, and Indigo. More warnings followed, including threats on October 27 to blow up 50 planes, and on October 28, targeting 60 flights, including Indigo, Air India, and Vistara, on domestic and international routes.”
Highlighting deteriorating internal security, Sanjay Singh added that not only flights but also temples have been targeted. On October 28, 2024, a bomb threat was issued against the ISKCON temple in Tirupati, Andhra Pradesh, while on October 24, similar threats were made to two temples in Madhya Pradesh, including the Mahakaleshwar temple in Ujjain. Previously, on July 6, 2024, a threat targeted the Prem Mandir in Vrindavan, Uttar Pradesh. Temples, places of worship where people seek blessings, are now receiving bomb threats.
Expressing concern over the safety of young students, the senior AAP leader highlighted the steep rise in bomb threats against schools. On October 28, Chennai’s NSN Matriculation Higher Secondary School received a threat, and CRPF School in Delhi’s Rohini on October 21, and a Hyderabad school. On October 15, four schools received bomb threats in Tamil Nadu followed by more in the coming days. Summer Fields School in Delhi on August 2, and 10 Kanpur schools on May 15. Additional incidents included schools in Lucknow, Jaipur, Ahmedabad, and DPS Dwarka in Delhi earlier this year.
Sanjay Singh expressed his concern, questioning the silence of BJP at centre, and the silence of Indian states led by the BJP on this critical issue. He stated, “Internal security and law and order falls under the BJP-led central government. If there are open threats to blow up flights, who will dare to travel? If even one of these threats becomes a reality, we can only imagine the level of fear it will instill in the public.”
The AAP MP expressed his outrage, stating, “The whole world has witnessed the events following the 26/11 attacks.” He asked the PM and Home Minister, “What steps have been taken in response to these alarming threats? What has your government done on this issue and to improve security? “
”Who are these individuals emboldened enough to threaten airlines, flights, passengers, schools, and temples? The Home Minister must step forward and clarify this situation. I must also emphasise that there has been a significant security lapse in Parliament, and if any of these threats takes shape into reality, the BJP-led central government will be directly responsible,” concluded Sanjay Singh.
