“When will you take action on Delhi’s spiraling crime?” asked AAP National Convenor Arvind Kejriwal, demanding answers from Union Home Minister Amit Shah for his inaction over the rising crime incidents in the national capital.
The AAP National Convenor visited the family of an elderly man brutally murdered in South Delhi’s Panchsheel Park on Saturday. Expressing shock and concern, the AAP Supremo said the city is gripped by fear as incidents of violence, ransom calls, and attacks continue unabated.
During a media interaction after meeting the aggrieved family, AAP National Convenor Arvind Kejriwal said, “We are currently in Panchsheel Park, considered one of the most upscale areas of Delhi. Just a few days ago, a horrific incident took place here where a 64-year-old man was brutally murdered. His throat was slit, and his body was repeatedly stabbed with knives in a ruthless act of violence.”
The AAP Supremo mentioned that he just visited the victim’s family, and now standing in front of their house. He further described the victim’s family as being in “deep shock and immense grief,” struggling to comprehend the brutality of the crime. “The situation in Delhi has become alarming, where even senior citizens are no longer safe. This victim was a senior citizen as well,” he remarked.
Arvind Kejriwal further highlighted the deteriorating law and order situation in the city, saying, “Businesspeople are receiving ransom and extortion calls. Shootouts are taking place in various parts of the city. Women are feeling unsafe. The entire city seems to be in a state of chaos, with crime spreading unchecked everywhere.”
In his concluding remarks, Arvind Kejriwal addressed Union Home Minister Amit Shah to focus on curbing the rising tide of crime. ““Ever since Amit Shah became the Home Minister, the situation in Delhi has gone from bad to worse. He is unable to handle Delhi. The city is in a terrible state. I hope the situation improves in the coming days. I want to ask the Home Minister Amit Shah when will he take immediate and decisive action against this rising tide of crime,” he stated.
