In a blistering indictment of Delhi’s crumbling law and order machinery, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has slammed the BJP-led central government, holding it squarely responsible for the surge in heinous crimes across the city. Delhi State President Saurabh Bharadwaj charged the so-called “double engine” government with abdicating its core responsibility, citing the recent murder of a minor in Seelampur as proof of the capital’s descent into lawlessness. He pointed out that the Delhi Police had manipulated crime data to shield the government’s failures, warning that Delhiites are being misled while the streets grow increasingly unsafe.
Addressing the media at the party headquarters on Friday, AAP Delhi State President Saurabh Bharadwaj lambasted the BJP over the complete collapse of law and order in the national capital. “For the last six months, the AAP government consistently raised concerns over the deteriorating law and order situation in Delhi. Even after becoming the opposition two months ago, we have continued to raise our voice on this issue,” he added.
The AAP Delhi State President noted that despite this, a month ago, Delhi Police released manipulated statistics claiming a decrease in heinous crimes and murders. “But the recent murder of a minor in Seelampur exposes the truth — not only is crime increasing, but data is being tampered with to mislead the people of Delhi,” he said.
Saurabh Bharadwaj cited shocking incidents to underscore the gravity of the situation: “Crimes have risen to such an extent that schoolchildren are murdering their classmates. Elderly couples are being killed in broad daylight inside their homes at 11 in the morning. People are receiving extortion calls demanding ₹5 crore, and if they refuse to pay, they are tracked and murdered in public. This is deeply shameful, and it proves that the Bharatiya Janata Party has completely failed to maintain law and order in Delhi.”
Addressing reports of posters being put up in certain parts of Delhi with slogans like ‘Hindus should migrate’ and ‘This house is for sale’, Saurabh Bharadwaj said, “This is a matter of utter disgrace for the BJP’s double-engine government of Delhi. The real question is: why have such things only started happening after the BJP came to power in Delhi?”
“Earlier, no one would dare talk about Hindu migration. But since the BJP took over, this narrative is being pushed everywhere. Hindus are already migrating. In fact, under BJP’s rule, more Hindus have given up Indian citizenship and moved abroad — to Europe, Australia, Canada, and America — than ever before. Wealthy Indians are fleeing the country. The condition of the nation has drastically worsened in the last 10–11 years,” he pointed out.
Meanwhile, Leader of Opposition (LoP) in Delhi Assembly and senior AAP leader, Atishi, also slammed the BJP over Delhi’s crumbling law and order, posting on X: “The murder of a 17-year-old boy in Seelampur is yet another example of Delhi’s worsening law and order. What is Delhi Police doing? What is Home Minister Amit Shah doing? What is the so-called double-engine government doing?”
