The so-called ‘Gujarat Model’ that BJP boasts about nationwide is, in reality, a model of corruption. Under this model, BJP leaders and ministers loot crores with impunity—and no action is taken. Senior AAP leader and party’s Punjab Prabhari, Manish Sisodia, launched a sharp attack on the BJP over a major scam in Gujarat, revealing that the sons of the state’s Panchayati Raj Minister floated fake companies to grab Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MNREGA) contracts in Dahod, looting ₹71 crore without doing any work.
The senior AAP leader pointed out that though the minister’s sons are now in police custody, the BJP has neither demanded the minister’s resignation nor taken any action. In contrast, under Arvind Kejriwal’s guidance, the AAP government in Punjab had its own MLA arrested as soon as corruption surfaced.
During a press conference, AAP’s Punjab Prabhari Manish Sisodia highlighted AAP’s uncompromising stance on corruption, stating, “Yesterday in Punjab, when one of our MLAs was found involved in corruption and misconduct with the public, the Bhagwant Mann-led government, under the guidance of Arvind Kejriwal, did not hesitate to take strict action against its own MLA. This is the politics of Arvind Kejriwal and the governance model of Bhagwant Mann.”
The former Delhi Deputy CM asserted that during our tenure in Delhi, our government’s motto was simple: zero tolerance for corruption. Anyone found betraying public trust was not spared—regardless of who they were or where they came from.
Turning to the BJP’s governance, Manish Sisodia sharply contrasted it with AAP’s approach. He said, “They often speak proudly of their so-called ‘Gujarat Model’, but this model is now being exposed as one of systemic corruption. A case of massive embezzlement under the MGNREGA has come to light in Dahod, Gujarat. Media reports reveal that the sons of the BJP’s Panchayati Raj Minister, Bachu Khabad, embezzled ₹71 crore from the department led by their own father.”

He elaborated, “The scam involves the creation of fake companies by the minister’s sons—Baldev and Kiran, along with their cousin—to siphon off funds meant for rural employment. MGNREGA was established to provide jobs to the poorest villagers. But no actual work was done in the villages, no employment was provided, and yet ₹71 crore was looted through bogus contracts. This scam occurred within the minister’s own department, and those responsible were his own sons and nephew. This scam only covers two tehsils, imagine the scale if it was investigated throughout all tehsils of Gujarat.”
Highlighting the lack of accountability, Manish Sisodia stated that what makes it a ‘maha ghotala’ is despite this massive embezzlement, the BJP government in Gujarat has not taken any action against the minister. No CBI case, no ED investigation, and the minister continues to hold office.
He asked, “Why is this happening? Is it because a wider investigation across other talukas would expose a scam worth thousands of crores? If the police have arrested the minister’s sons, acknowledging the corruption, why is the minister still in office? Why hasn’t the BJP demanded his resignation?”
The AAP Punjab Prabhari added that the scandal might go higher up, asking, “In Gujarat, it is well known that no significant decision is made without the approval of PM Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah. So did this ₹71 crore embezzlement—through contracts given to the minister’s sons—happen with their knowledge or consent? The people of Gujarat and the nation deserve answers from PM Modi and Amit Shah. BJP is being thoroughly exposed by shielding the minister while sacrificing public funds meant for the poor.”
Manish Sisodia concluded by stating, “I bring this forth to expose this clear contrast. In AAP-led Punjab, even our own MLA wasn’t spared when found guilty. In Gujarat, however, BJP allows its ministers to stay in power even when their family is caught red-handed in massive corruption. Who is protecting the minister in Gujarat? Why is there no CBI or ED investigation? It is clear to all of us that after a few days of mere eyewash, the Gujarat Police will certainly let their sons go. Why are only two talukas under scrutiny when this could be a statewide scam? Gujarat and the entire country need answers.”
