AAP Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Singh has sharply criticised the BJP, stating that the so-called “double engine” government in Delhi has completely failed. He said that if the BJP cannot maintain law and order in the national capital—where the President, Prime Minister, Home Minister, and international diplomats reside—how can they manage the rest of the country?
Sanjay Singh pointed to rising crime, including the recent brutal murder of a minor in Seelampur, as evidence that Delhi’s law and order situation is in complete disarray. He questioned why, while the West Bengal Governor is visiting riot-hit areas, Delhi’s Lieutenant Governor has yet to meet the victim’s family or visit the crime scene.
Speaking to the media, Senior AAP leader and Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Singh said, “Where are the BJP leaders hiding now? Delhi now has a double-engine government. I had also raised the issue of rising crime in Delhi in Parliament. This is the same Delhi where the Prime Minister, Home Minister, President, Vice President, MPs, Cabinet Ministers, and ambassadors from around the world reside—and yet crime is at its peak.”
He asserted, “Murders are happening inside courtrooms. In Delhi, a woman is gang-raped and then dragged for several kilometers. If the BJP cannot manage the national capital, how will they maintain law and order across the country?”
Sanjay Singh further said, “BJP leaders regularly spew fire over West Bengal, but when similar incidents happen in states governed by them, they fall silent. BJP leaders, the Prime Minister, the Union Home Minister, and Delhi’s Chief Minister say nothing.”
He highlighted the contrast, stating, “The Governor of West Bengal is going to visit the site of the riots there—but why isn’t Delhi’s LG visiting the crime scene? The LG should also meet the victim’s family and witness the crime situation for himself. This is why I say that BJP works with malice against opposition-ruled state governments.”
He added, “Even when the Aam Aadmi Party was in power, we used to say that the law-and-order situation in Delhi is deteriorating. It is the responsibility of the BJP-led central government to improve it. But they’ve done nothing.”
The AAP MP continued, “On the other hand, the Aam Aadmi Party government improved Delhi’s government schools and hospitals—but within just two months, the BJP came in and started destroying all that. Private schools have hiked fees for students. There are long power cuts in Delhi now. And they’re even shutting down Mohalla Clinics.”
Sanjay Singh further said, “Now, in the capital of the country, people are putting up posters about migration. The BJP and the Union Home Minister should be asked—what are they doing to control crime? More than 500 murders are happening in Delhi every year. Gang wars are taking place in broad daylight on the streets. This is no small matter.”
He emphasised, “Murders are happening inside courtrooms—places people go to seek justice. Delhi now has a double-engine government. Strict and concrete steps must be taken to control crime. But the BJP’s so-called double engine is completely wrecked.”
Speaking about the riots in West Bengal, Sanjay Singh said, “The Governor wants to visit the riot-affected areas because he will only do what the BJP tells him to do. The BJP is always actively trying to disturb the peace in the country. Where there is an opposition government, they want to set things on fire. And where they are in power—they still set things on fire.”
Sanjay Singh concluded by saying, “BJP is another name for destruction. If you want to see the country ruined, vote for the BJP. Delhi is a direct example of this. In just two months, the people of Delhi have seen the difference between an Aam Aadmi Party government and a BJP government. Parents are crying outside schools—fees have increased by as much as 80%. In two months, the people of Delhi have realized how the BJP functions.”
