The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) will hold statewide protests across Uttar Pradesh on 29th March against the scam and corruption of selling liquor bottles under a “Buy One Get One Free” offer in BJP-ruled Uttar Pradesh. Senior AAP leader and Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Singh said protests will be held at district headquarters across the state against this BJP scam.
The Rajya Sabha MP pointed out that while people in Uttar Pradesh are struggling with unemployment and inflation, bumper liquor offers are going on—yet PM Modi and CM Yogi remain silent. Sanjay Singh highlighted that the AAP government in Delhi had banned such liquor offers but was still falsely targeted. Now, when the same is happening openly in Uttar Pradesh, there is complete silence. He said this is a massive liquor scam, and the ED-CBI should investigate and take action.
Addressing a press conference at the party headquarters on Thursday, senior AAP leader and Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Singh said that under the joint leadership of PM Modi and UP CM Yogi Adityanath, a “double-engine” BJP government is ruling Uttar Pradesh. He said, “Big claims are made about Uttar Pradesh, but there is no employment for the youth, no fair price for farmers’ crops, and the poor are suffering due to inflation. Amid these problems, the BJP has launched a bumper offer — Buy One Liquor Bottle, Get One Free.”
He said that the BJP and Yogi Adityanath’s government have introduced this “bumper liquor offer” across Uttar Pradesh, but now, no BJP leader is ready to speak about it. “Everyone has fallen silent. Neither PM Modi nor CM Yogi is ready to speak on this and call it a scam,” Sanjay Singh said.
The AAP MP added, “There is no debate or discussion anywhere about this offer in Uttar Pradesh. There is complete silence, and everyone is in ‘Ghajini mode’ — forgetting everything. When the AAP government in Delhi had clearly issued an order prohibiting the sale of Buy One Get One Free liquor bottles, fake and baseless allegations were made against us. Cases were filed by ED and CBI, and a false narrative was built that offering one free bottle with another was a scam. The narrative was run to defame Arvind Kejriwal and AAP, even though there was no truth or evidence behind these allegations.”
Sanjay Singh pointed out that today, in places like Noida, Muzaffarnagar, and Hapur, liquor is openly being sold with a Buy One Get One Free offer. “This is a huge liquor scam in Uttar Pradesh. ED and CBI should take action on this,” he demanded.
He said, “In Delhi, they made fabricated and false cases against AAP leaders, but in Uttar Pradesh, where such scams are happening openly, ED, CBI, PM Modi, CM Yogi, and BJP leaders have all maintained silence. In Delhi, even RSS spokespersons would come and shout about liquor policies. Where are they now? Why don’t they speak up now and call this Buy One Get One Free liquor offer a scam? No one is ready to speak.”
Sanjay Singh announced that the Aam Aadmi Party will hold protests in all districts of Uttar Pradesh on 29th March against this liquor scam. “We will launch a movement against BJP’s bumper liquor offer,” he said.
Responding to a question, Sanjay Singh further asked, “If there is no official government order, then how is this Buy One Get One Free liquor offer openly running in Uttar Pradesh? In the name of clearing stock, will poison be served to people? Huge amounts of liquor is flowing in Uttar Pradesh, and they are encouraging people to drink more by offering one free bottle with another. This is a liquor scam. ED and CBI must immediately investigate this.”
