The BJP government in Delhi has wasted no time in burdening the public, imposing entry fees on all city parks—a blatant act of “looting” the people. AAP’s chief spokesperson Priyanka Kakkar on Sunday exposed BJP’s ploy—first falsely claiming an empty treasury and now using it as an excuse to extract money from citizens.
The AAP Chief Spokesperson contrasted this with Arvind Kejriwal’s tenure, during which parks were maintained for free, complete with gyms and cycle tracks. Questioning CM Rekha Gupta on where the funds have disappeared, AAP has demanded an immediate rollback of the park entry fees, vowing to stop BJP from pocketing Delhi’s money.
AAP’s Chief Spokesperson, Priyanka Kakkar, held a press conference at the party headquarters on Sunday, strongly criticizing the newly formed BJP government in Delhi. She said, “Our elders were right when they said that a child’s future can be seen in their cradle. A clear example of this can be seen in the new BJP government in Delhi. The newly elected CM of Delhi, Rekha Gupta, lied immediately after taking the oath by claiming that the Delhi government’s treasury is empty. The real intention behind this statement was to find ways to loot the people of Delhi.”
The Chief AAP Spokesperson pointed out that BJP’s plan to exploit the people has come to light—entry fees have been imposed in Delhi’s parks. “This is highly condemnable. BJP must immediately withdraw this fee because the role of a government is to encourage people to visit parks, not to restrict them,” she asserted.
Priyanka Kakkar further stated, “Parks are spaces where people come to maintain their health. When the AAP was in power in Delhi, Arvind Kejriwal ensured that all parks were equipped with gym equipment, cycling tracks, and well-maintained facilities. All these amenities were provided free of cost. Parks foster a sense of community, bringing people together. AAP MLAs would start their day in parks, engaging directly with the public. But as soon as BJP assumed power in Delhi, they imposed an entry fee, effectively shutting down these activities.”
“Now, even to visit a park, people will have to pay a fee. AAP wants to tell CM Rekha Gupta to wake up and see how Arvind Kejriwal’s government provided numerous free services while still delivering a budget surplus. Under Arvind Kejriwal’s leadership, Delhi’s budget increased from ₹31,000 crore to ₹77,000 crore,” highlighted the Chief AAP Spokesperson.
Raising serious questions about BJP’s governance, Priyanka Kakkar asked, “Where has the money of the Delhi government gone? Just like all BJP-ruled states are drowning in debt while their funds fill the pockets of BJP leaders, is CM Rekha Gupta planning to push Delhi into debt too? But the AAP will never let this happen. We will continue to hold BJP accountable.”
She also reminded BJP of its promises before coming to power. “Before the elections, BJP had promised that every woman in Delhi would receive ₹2,500 in their accounts by March 8. BJP had also assured that LPG cylinders would be provided at ₹500, and every household would receive a free cylinder on Holi and Diwali. CM Rekha Gupta should stop lying and start working on fulfilling these promises.”
Priyanka Kakkar concluded by warning BJP, “The AAP will not allow BJP to loot the people of Delhi. The Chief Minister must immediately roll back the entry fees in parks. This is a wrong decision that discourages people from visiting parks.”
