Days after Chhath Puja ended, senior AAP leader and Delhi State President Saurabh Bharadwaj on Sunday visited Vasudev Ghat — the site where the BJP government had created a “fake Yamuna” — and discovered that all traces of the sham setup were being erased. Inspecting the scene, Saurabh Bharadwaj found workers dismantling the pipeline that had secretly supplied filtered water to the artificial river. Holding a handful of the real Yamuna’s black, foul water, he said the BJP government was now destroying evidence after its fraud had been exposed, calling the entire operation “a massive illegal cover-up.”
Continuing his series of exposés on the BJP government’s claims, senior AAP leader and Delhi State President Saurabh Bharadwaj on Sunday visited Vasudev Ghat to inspect the condition of the Chhath Ghat, where he said the BJP government in Delhi had created a “fake Yamuna” to deceive devotees. “This is the same place where the Delhi BJP government carried out its conspiracy to fool people by creating an artificial Yamuna. The very same underground pipeline we had earlier exposed still exists here — a thick pipe connected through a valve from beneath the ground to the so-called ‘fake Yamuna’ at Vasudev Ghat. This pipeline was linked to the rising main of the Wazirabad Water Treatment Plant,” he said.
Explaining the technical aspect, the AAP Delhi Unit Chief stated, “The ‘rising main’ refers to the principal pipeline that carries water from a treatment plant, which does not go directly to any household or individual. This water is meant only for underground reservoirs (UGRs), from where it is further distributed. Any puncturing or tapping of the rising main is completely illegal and a criminal act. An FIR must be registered in this matter.”
Saurabh Bharadwaj demanded answers from the Delhi Jal Board (DJB) and the Delhi government, raising five specific questions:
- Who granted permission for this illegal connection?
- Did the Delhi Development Authority (DDA) officially request a water connection from the DJB, given that the land belongs to the DDA?
- Did the DJB give written approval for this connection?
- Which contractor executed this work?
- Was a tender issued for this, or was payment made in cash and black money?
Saurabh Bharadwaj further revealed that the Delhi government quietly removed this illegal connection just two to three days after Chhath Puja. “This clearly proves that an unlawful act had been committed. Now that the theft has been exposed, the Delhi government is busy destroying evidence,” he said.
During his visit, Saurabh Bharadwaj also held some of the Yamuna water in his hands, pointing out that it appeared pitch black. Showing his feet, covered in thick black sludge, he said, “This is not soil or sand that one finds on the banks of a clean river — this is sewer waste. The entire stretch of the Yamuna’s edge here is filled with human waste.”
