Aam Aadmi Party has strongly opposed BJP’s conspiracy to throw out slum dwellers from Delhi ahead of Diwali. Senior AAP Leader Manish Sisodia on Sunday met with residents in slums of Gandhi Nagar after they were served eviction notices by the BJP-controlled DDA. Vehemently condemning the BJP’s plan, he said that the concerned residents were living in the locality for the last 9 decades and it is unwarranted to evict them in this manner. Manish Sisodia was accompanied by AAP MLA and MCD incharge Durgesh Pathak and several party leaders including Adil Ahmad Khan.
Senior AAP leader and Former Deputy CM, Manish Sisodia stated that these jhuggis have been home to families for over ninety years, with two generations, even three have been living here. He said, “Children living here approach me and say, ‘Sir, we study in your schools; where will we go if our homes are taken?’ Yet, the BJP has issued notices to these jhuggi dwellers, ordering them to vacate within fifteen days.”
Sharing the petty politics of the BJP, Manish Sisodia asserted that the BJP has even gone as far as sending Arvind Kejriwal to jail so he can not stand up for the poor. “But he is back, and dedicated to continuing the fight. Today, the AAP commits to standing strong, to fighting wholeheartedly for these families, and to ensuring that not a single jhuggi is lost, this is Arvind Kejriwal’s promise,” concluded Delhi’s former Deputy CM giving confidence to people.
