The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has lambasted the BJP, pointing out to the BJP’s betrayal of the people of Delhi by failing to fulfill Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s promise of ₹2,500 per month for Delhi’s women. AAP Chief Spokesperson Priyanka Kakkar slammed the BJP government for not approving the scheme in its first cabinet meeting, calling it proof that Modi’s guarantees are mere ‘jumlas’.
The Chief AAP Spokesperson contrasted this with Arvind Kejriwal’s governance, highlighting that his commitments—like free electricity and water—were implemented immediately. “Only Arvind Kejriwal gives real guarantees and delivers,” she asserted, exposing yet another BJP jumla.
In a press conference, AAP Chief Spokesperson Priyanka Kakkar reminded everyone that when Arvind Kejriwal guaranteed ‘Bijli half-Paani Maaf’, it was approved in the very first cabinet meeting. Emphasizing Arvind Kejriwal’s commitment to fulfilling promises, she stated, “Delhiites were provided the cheapest electricity in the country, a 24×7 power supply, 200 units of free electricity, and free water.”
She emphasised that the BJP has proven that only Arvind Kejriwal is a person who gives guarantees and fulfills them. Priyanka Kakkar added, “Why do I say this? Because you all might recall how, before the elections, every BJP minister, leader, and MP repeatedly claimed that from March 8, all women in Delhi would start receiving ₹2,500 per month in their bank accounts.”
“The first installment was supposed to be given on March 8, and BJP leaders were also saying that this proposal would be passed in the very first meeting,” she added.
Priyanka Kakkar further stated that yesterday, the first cabinet meeting of BJP’s Delhi government took place, but this proposal was not approved. She said, “When CM Rekha Gupta was asked why it wasn’t passed, she told journalists, ‘Don’t teach us our job. We will follow BJP’s agenda, not yours’.”
Playing the video in which PM Modi could be heard saying that in the first cabinet meeting of Delhi’sBJP government (which happened yesterday), ₹2,500 per month would be given to every woman and this is Modi’s Guarantee, Priyanka Kakkar said, “You all saw how another one of PM Modi’s promises collapsed—how he deceived the people of Delhi. We want to tell CM Rekha Gupta that Delhi will not run on BJP’s agenda; it will run on the promises made to the people of Delhi.”
She emphasized that, just as BJP and PM Modi deceived the people of Maharashtra and Haryana with their false promises, AAP will not let them deceive Delhi in the same way. She said, “They must fulfill the promises they made.”
Lastly, She urged all journalists, the fourth pillar of democracy, to repeatedly question every BJP minister, “Why did they not fulfill Modi’s guarantee in their first cabinet meeting. They must accept that PM Modi only makes empty promises, while guarantees are given only by Arvind Kejriwal.”
