The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has deceived the women of Delhi. Despite Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah, and the entire BJP promising that the very first cabinet meeting would approve ₹2500 per month for women, the announcement was nowhere to be found. Adding to the disappointment, Delhi’s new woman Chief Minister has already broken this key promise. This blatant betrayal exposes BJP’s disregard for the trust of Delhi’s women.
In a video message, senior AAP leader and Former Chief Minister Atishi said that the BJP had promised the women of Delhi that in the very first cabinet meeting, the scheme to provide ₹2500 per month to every woman in Delhi would be approved. “Today, the newly appointed Chief Minister of Delhi, Rekha Gupta, took the oath along with her cabinet. The first cabinet meeting was scheduled for 7 PM this evening,” she said.
The Former Chief Minister stated that all the women of Delhi were eagerly waiting for this meeting, hoping that the ₹2500 per month scheme would be approved. They were also expecting that after the meeting, CM Rekha Gupta would hold a press conference and announce the implementation of the promised scheme. “This was the very promise that the BJP had made repeatedly, the same promise that Prime Minister Narendra Modi had reiterated multiple times, and the one that Rekha Gupta herself had reaffirmed as recently as this morning,” she pointed out.
Atishi said, “This morning, Rekha Gupta stated that the ₹2500 per month scheme would be passed in the first cabinet meeting. However, I am deeply disappointed that on the very first day of forming the government, the BJP has already started breaking its promises and deceiving the people of Delhi. The first cabinet meeting has now taken place, yet the ₹2500 per month scheme has not been approved.”
She further questioned CM Rekha Gupta and the BJP leadership, saying, “I want to ask Rekha Gupta—this morning, you clearly said that the scheme would be passed in the first cabinet meeting. PM Narendra Modi had promised on every platform that this scheme would be implemented in the first cabinet meeting. Home Minister Amit Shah had also repeatedly assured the same. So why was this scheme not approved?”
“It seems that from day one, the new BJP government has made up its mind to betray the people of Delhi and break its promises. It is truly disheartening that a woman Chief Minister has broken a promise made to the women of Delhi immediately after assuming office,” concluded Atishi.
