Delhi’s women were promised ₹2500 every month, and every household was supposed to get a free gas cylinder on Holi—but the BJP has failed to deliver. The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has launched a scathing attack, calling out the BJP for betraying Delhi’s voters with empty promises.
The AAP slammed the BJP for promising ₹2500 to women by March 8 and then conveniently forgetting about it. The free Holi gas cylinder never arrived either. Calling it a blatant betrayal, AAP National General Secretary (Organisation) Dr. Sandeep Pathak said that when a political party—and even the Prime Minister—makes grand promises only to backtrack, it sets a dangerous precedent in Indian politics.
AAP National General Secretary (Organisation) and Rajya Sabha MP, Dr. Sandeep Pathak, said that the PAC meeting extensively discussed how the Prime Minister and the BJP made false promises to Delhiites during the Assembly elections. He stated, “The Prime Minister had promised that in the very first Cabinet meeting, a scheme would be passed to credit ₹2500 every month into the accounts of every woman in Delhi. However, this promise was never fulfilled.”
Calling it a direct betrayal to Delhiites, the AAP Rajya Sabha MP emphasised that the BJP also promised that every family would receive a free gas cylinder on Holi and Diwali, but when Holi arrived, no such benefit was given.
Dr. Sandeep Pathak condemned the BJP’s approach, calling it a serious issue for the country and its politics. He said, “It is extremely unfortunate that a political party, and the Prime Minister himself, makes such promises and then backs out. This is a sad reflection on the state of politics in India. AAP stands for politics of work. Every promise made by Arvind Kejriwal has been fulfilled. We entered politics to bring about a new kind of governance, and we will continue to fight for it till the very end.”
AAP’s newly appointed Delhi State President, Saurabh Bharadwaj, highlighted the party’s strong electoral standing in Delhi, stating, “AAP secured approximately 43.5% of the vote share in the Delhi elections, while BJP had only 2% more at 45.5%. This means that despite BJP misusing the police and Election Commission, nearly half of Delhi’s population still stood firmly with AAP. We will continue to serve them.”
“Moreover, many voters supported BJP hoping they would receive ₹2500 per month and free gas cylinders during Holi and Diwali. Now that these promises have been broken, AAP will ensure that these people are not forgotten either,” he added.
Senior AAP leader Manish Sisodia also hit out at PM Modi for misleading Delhi’s electorate. He emphasised, “The Prime Minister assured Delhi’s women that if BJP formed the government, ₹2500 would be credited to their accounts starting from March 8. But not a single rupee has been deposited. This means PM Modi lied to the people of Delhi.”
“He also promised free gas cylinders on Holi and Diwali, but Holi has passed, and the people have received nothing. The biggest concern now is whether this BJP-led government in Delhi will fulfil even a single one of its promises over the next five years,” questioned Manish Sisodia.
