The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) tore into the ‘four-engine’ BJP government, pointing out that the BJP is erecting new garbage mountains across Delhi. On Sunday, AAP’s Leader of Opposition (LoP) in the MCD, Ankush Narang, and AAP’s MCD co-incharge Praveen Kumar inspected the massive waste heap rising in Rama Vihar, Mundka.
Ankush Narang said the BJP government is building Delhi’s fourth mountain of garbage at Rama Vihar while also dumping waste and debris in Majlis Park, Nirankari Ground, Kadipur and Burari, exposing the hollowness of the BJP’s promise to free the city from its existing three landfill hills.
Senior AAP leader and MCD LoP Ankush Narang strongly stated that while it was earlier believed that Delhi had three garbage mountains, the BJP is now building a fourth landfill in Rama Vihar. “Garbage, silt and debris are being dumped here, causing soil and water pollution. He added that while the BJP claims they are removing garbage mountains, in reality they are creating new ones — exposing the complete failure of the Delhi Government and MCD,” he added.
Ankush Narang further revealed that the situation is not limited to Mundka alone — Majlis Park, Nirankari Ground, Kadipur and Burari are also witnessing similar dumping, where new garbage hills are being erected. “While Prime Minister Modi talks about Swachh Bharat Abhiyan and the Chief Minister and Mayor claim cleanliness drives, the ground reality is that garbage and 7 feet of stagnant water have accumulated in Mundka,” said the MCD LoP.
AAP’s MCD co-incharge Praveen Kumar said that CM Rekha Gupta and her BJP ministers talk about removing garbage mountains, but in reality waste from Bhalswa and Burari is being shifted to Rama Vihar. This, he said, is increasing soil pollution and spreading diseases. He demanded that the dumping yard be shut down and the condition of Rama Vihar be improved immediately.
Praveen Kumar questioned Rekha Gupta and Mayor Raja Iqbal Singh on why such stepmotherly treatment is being given to Delhi. “Why are new ‘death wells’ being created in the name of removing garbage mountains just to hide their failures,” he asked.
Calling this shameful, Praveen Kumar demanded that illegal dumping yards in Rama Vihar and other parts of Delhi be shut down immediately, as they are causing pollution and illnesses. He said this unregulated waste disposal is illegal, with no proper method being followed.
Praveen Kumar strongly condemned the BJP’s approach and declared that AAP will continue to expose this fraud and fight to protect the health and safety of Delhiites.
