Delhi Education Minister Ashish Sood’s claim that not a single functional computer lab was left behind by the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government has collapsed under the weight of evidence. AAP Delhi State President Saurabh Bharadwaj called out the statement as a desperate lie, aimed either at defaming the previous government or paving the way for a massive procurement scam.
With students found studying on working computers during surprise inspection by AAP MLA Kuldeep Kumar, Saurabh Bharadwaj called out the BJP for manufacturing falsehoods, hiding the truth, and plotting to falsely declare systems as junk to justify fresh purchases.
Addressing a press conference, AAP Delhi State President Saurabh Bharadwaj stated, “It is Delhi’s misfortune that the BJP has handpicked a specific kind of leaders and made them ministers. Every minister they have chosen shares a common quality—one that even BJP workers and Delhiites recognize. The party has deliberately appointed such individuals. One such minister is Ashish Sood.”
Referring to Minister Ashish Sood’s recent remarks at a private conclave, Saurabh Bharadwaj said, “The minister—who’s known for his loud claims—made an extremely bizarre statement. He said that the Aam Aadmi Party government did not leave behind even a single functional computer lab. That means, according to him, not one working computer was left for the new government—every single machine was broken.”
Questioning the motive behind such a claim, he continued, “I kept wondering what Ashish Sood gains from such a statement. First, this could simply be an attempt to defame the previous government—something they do daily. Second, it might reflect their disinterest in actually working; by denying the previous government’s achievements, they’ll replicate those initiatives and claim credit. And third, could this be part of a larger corruption plan? Could they be falsely declaring all computers as non-functional to justify buying new ones? That’s what the Minister has claimed—that none of the computers installed by the previous government are working. So if all are broken, what happens next?”
Explaining the suspected ploy, the AAP Delhi State President emphasised, “Naturally, new computers will have to be purchased. But for that, it must first be declared that the existing ones are unusable. That’s why the Education Minister issued a blanket statement claiming all computers in labs are non-functional. We are going to expose the minister’s lies.”
Reacting to Ashish Sood’s on-record statement, Saurabh Bharadwaj said, “He claimed with full responsibility, on a news channel, that there isn’t a single functional computer lab left by the AAP government. Soon after his claims, AAP MLA from Kondli, Kuldeep Kumar, reached the New Kondli Government School unannounced. The truth is that computers in government school computer labs across Delhi are functional.
“He found students actively studying on computers. Even earlier, when Manish Sisodia was the Education Minister, he had visited multiple computer labs in government schools, interacted with students, and those videos are still available on social media,” he added.
Highlighting the poor understanding of BJP’s minister, Saurabh Bharadwaj said, “This is the reality of BJP’s Education Minister Ashish Sood — when asked to give an example involving computers, he could only think of handing a mobile phone to distract a two-year-old. An Education Minister should be capable of giving more informed examples related to computers. Every government must have the basic integrity to acknowledge the work that has been done and focus on the work that remains. The truth is, BJP has no intention of doing any work. That is why BJP ministers are busy spreading lies about the previous government. Today, Ashish Sood’s lie has been completely exposed.”
Demanding accountability, he asked, “If computers are functioning in the labs, Ashish Sood must explain why he falsely claimed that not a single computer is working in any lab. And if, as he claims, the computers are non-functional, then why hasn’t the BJP government ordered an inquiry into how so many computers supposedly broke down? There are established procedures for computer procurement, with clearly defined responsibilities. Ashish Sood must also clarify whether this lie is part of a conspiracy to label the old computers as faulty in order to push for fresh purchases. This is a massive conspiracy by the BJP.”
Calling out deliberate obstruction, Saurabh Bharadwaj added, “MLA Kuldeep Kumar made another school visit in the afternoon shift. But when he reached the second school, the principal stopped him from entering the computer lab and informed him that an order had come from the Deputy Director of the Education Department stating that no MLA should be allowed inside the lab. Moreover, he was told that prior written permission must be taken from the Deputy Director. This clearly shows that fear has gripped Ashish Sood’s ministry — they are scared that AAP MLAs will record videos of functional computers and expose the truth.”
