AAP National Convenor Arvind Kejriwal on Sunday heavily lambasted the BJP for conspiring to remove votes of AAP supporters in Delhi. Sharing videos of media interactions with residents of Shahdara constituency’s Ambedkar Camp and other areas on social media platform X, Arvind Kejriwal accused the BJP of dishonestly targeting specific voters.
Arvind Kejriwal said, “BJP is discreetly and selectively removing votes of AAP supporters to win elections in Delhi dishonestly”. He pointed out that journalists going around in the streets of Delhi are uncovering the truth as people openly share their experiences. He questioned how over 300 people’s votes were removed from Shahdara despite them living there for decades, based on complaints made solely by BJP’s Booth Level Agents (BLA). “Those whose names have been cut from the voter list are saying, ‘Maybe they somehow know we vote for Kejriwal.’,” he said.
Arvind Kejriwal further asserted that in some cases, the names of three family members were removed, with the removal list bearing the stamp and signature of BJP’s BLA. “Why is BJP systematically disenfranchising poor voters?” he asked. “For instance, a person who has lived at the same address for 20 years, neither deceased nor relocated, finds their name removed from the voter list. In 2020, if they voted for AAP, BJP’s BLA identifies them and crosses out their name.”
Arvind Kejriwal had recently revealed that BJP is conspiring to win the Delhi election by removing AAP supporters from voter lists. In Shahdara constituency alone, BJP has filed applications with the Election Commission to remove the names of over 11,000 voters, allegedly AAP supporters.
His revelations have caused an uproar in Delhi. Media investigations have taken journalists to the streets of Shahdara, where residents have confirmed that they recently voted in the general elections, but their names have been inexplicably deleted from the voter list.
Public Testimonies Expose BJP’s Scheme
Sushil Sahdev:
“My father-in-law, my sister-in-law, and my own name have been removed from the voter list,” Sushil said, showing the list to a journalist. “It bears the stamp of BJP’s BLA from Shahdara constituency.”
Sunil Kumar:
“I have been living at the same address since 2003. When the list came out, I discovered my name had been removed. Some people had come to survey the area, and they must have altered the list. We have been here for 20 years and are still here,” said Sunil, a factory worker.
Five Names from One Family Removed:
Another resident shared that five family members’ votes, including Ramniwas Yadav, Shailesh, Santosh, Kanchan, and Israwati Devi, were removed despite living in the area for 40-45 years. “Last time, we all voted. The Delhi government provides 200 units of free electricity, and perhaps they figured out we are Kejriwal supporters. So, they removed our votes.”
Upendra Kumar:
“Two months ago, BJP’s BLA came to our colony for a survey. They asked for my name, address, and whom I voted for in 2020. When I told them I voted for AAP, they marked a cross against my name,” Upendra revealed.
