AAP National Convenor Arvind Kejriwal today exposed the BJP’s attempts to sabotage welfare initiatives promised by the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) to the people of Delhi. During a fiery press conference, he berated the BJP for using disruptive tactics and false propaganda to derail AAP’s welfare schemes. He called out the BJP’s actions as an attack on the very fabric of pro-people governance, urging Delhiites to resist these moves with unity and determination.
“The BJP, rattled by the overwhelming support these initiatives have received, has resorted to ordering a sham investigation to derail public trust. This act of desperation shows they have already conceded defeat,” Arvind Kejriwal remarked. He further reinforced his commitment to deliver on Mahila Samman Yojana and Sanjeevani Yojana, while urging citizens to remember AAP’s track record in providing free electricity, water, quality education, and healthcare.
“This election is a battle for Delhi’s dignity and welfare. I appeal to all 2 crore Delhiites to unite and defeat BJP’s dirty politics,” he declared, while condemning the BJP for openly distributing cash to buy votes without facing scrutiny.
Addressing the media, Arvind Kejriwal said, “A few days ago, we announced that if our government is formed in Delhi, we will implement two schemes. One is the Mahila Samman Yojana, under which we said every woman will be given ₹2,100. The cabinet had passed a proposal to give ₹1,000 to every woman, but I had said that after winning the election, we will increase this to ₹2,100 for every woman. For senior citizens, we announced Sanjeevani Yojana that all our elders above 60 years of age will have their medical expenses fully covered by the Delhi government, whether they get treated in private hospitals or government ones. These two schemes were so beneficial and pro-people that as soon as the Aam Aadmi Party started registrations for them, long queues started forming everywhere.”
“Naturally, this made the BJP lose sleep,” he said, adding that it made the BJP become extremely rattled. “Several BJP leaders called him and said, “The election is over; it doesn’t look like we will even win three or four seats this time. Forget about winning, on many seats, it seems BJP might even lose its deposit.” So, they decided that these schemes must be stopped at any cost. They sent their goons to the camps where registrations were happening and tried to dismantle the camps. They sent the police, who also tried to dismantle the camps,” he said.
Arvind Kejriwal went on to criticize the inquiry ordered at the behest of BJP, labeling it as baseless. “They have ordered a fake investigation. Investigation into what? What is there to investigate? We are not collecting any money. We are only asking people who wish to avail of these schemes after the elections to come and register. Today, in the name of this investigation, they want to shut down these schemes. The schemes haven’t even started yet! It was an electoral promise that we would implement after winning the election, but they want to stop it already,” he stated.
He presented a grim picture of the BJP’s intentions for Delhi. “The BJP has clearly shown its true intentions. We had been repeatedly asking BJP what they were contesting the elections in Delhi for. What will they do if they win? Today, they have presented their manifesto in a way. They have shown that if you vote for them in Delhi, their sole purpose will be to stop free electricity, free water, Mohalla Clinics, and free education. They will dismantle the Mahila Samman Yojana and Sanjeevani Yojana. The BJP is not contesting the elections in Delhi to do anything for you but to shut everything down. Their only goal is to take away the benefits that Delhiites currently enjoy,” he asserted.
Sharing a personal story, Arvind Kejriwal highlighted the struggles of a Delhi resident who survives solely due to AAP’s policies. “This man earns ₹20,000 a month and said he would have to leave Delhi if not for free electricity, water, quality education in government schools, healthcare and bus travel for women. This is the reality for many,” Kejriwal recounted.
“I want to tell the people of Delhi, if by mistake you vote for the BJP, you will have to leave Delhi. The city will become unlivable for you,” he added.
Talking about the hypocrisy behind today’s developments he said, “Today, they have started an investigation into the Mahila Samman Yojana. We are not taking any money or issuing receipts, yet they are investigating. Meanwhile, BJP leaders are openly distributing money to buy votes. Perhaps India has never seen such a dark age as what the BJP has brought upon us today. They are openly distributing cash, telling people to vote for them in return, and there’s no investigation into that!”
He reminded citizens of his track record in delivering on promises, such as free electricity, excellent schools, Mohalla Clinics, and free bus travel for women. “You trusted me before, and I overcame all obstacles and delivered. Trust me now, and I will ensure the Mahila Samman Yojana and Sanjeevani Yojana are implemented.”
Arvind Kejriwal urged the people of Delhi to rally against the BJP’s dirty politics. “This election is a battle for the soul of Delhi. Stand with me, and together, we will protect these welfare schemes. If they succeed, they will destroy Delhi. They will completely ruin the lives of the people here. You must keep faith in us. Keep registering for the schemes. Register for the Sanjeevani Yojana and the Mahila Samman Yojana. I will see how they stop these schemes. I promise I will implement both schemes,” he appealed.
He also revealed that the BJP was colluding with Congress to undermine AAP’s efforts. “Today, the BJP is so desperate that they are begging Congress to save them. BJP didn’t even have the courage to complain to the LG; they had Congress leader Sandeep Dikshit do it instead. Look at how BJP and Congress are working together to stop AAP and the people of Delhi.”
He concluded by reassuring the people of his unwavering commitment and encouraged citizens to continue registering for the schemes. “I appeal to the 2 crore people of Delhi and especially to all the mothers and sisters of Delhi: This election is between the people of Delhi on one side and the BJP on the other. We must end BJP’s dirty politics. Today, I am what I am because of you, the people of Delhi. Stand with me, and I will ensure these schemes are implemented no matter what. If they send me to jail again, I will go. I am ready to go to jail ten times for you. No matter what, I will not let these schemes be stopped. Even if they halt registrations now, the people will respond.”
