In a damning disclosure, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has exposed that the BJP has looted crores in the name of patriotism, exposing a “Tiranga scam” in Delhi. Senior AAP leader and MP Sanjay Singh charged that under CM Rekha Gupta’s government, ₹4 crore was allocated to distribute 7 lakh national flags under the ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ campaign, but instead of the tender-mandated size, smaller flags were supplied.
The AAP MP further revealed that the flags were meant to reach households before August 15. However, the tender was opened only on August 16. Shockingly, the company had already delivered flags worth ₹15 apiece in place of the approved ₹60 flags even before the tender process began.
Meanwhile, senior AAP leader Manish Sisodia took to X and slammed the BJP over the Tiranga scam. He wrote, “Politics on the Tiranga, business on the Tiranga, and now a scam on the Tiranga. Such scamsters deserve to face sedition charges.”
Addressing a press conference at the AAP headquarters, senior AAP leader and Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Singh said that the BJP, which claims to be the world’s largest party, which beats the drum of nationalism, and which insults leaders of other parties every day in the name of patriotism, has been caught in a scam that will shock the entire nation. “How can any party, in the purchase of the Tiranga—the pride and honour of India—commit a scam? But this is what the BJP has done. The Delhi BJP government under CM Rekha Gupta has committed corruption in buying the Tiranga,” he said.
Displaying documentary evidence before the media, Sanjay Singh revealed that under the ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ scheme, the BJP government in Delhi was supposed to distribute 7 lakh flags at a total cost of ₹4 crore. Each flag was to be 900 mm x 1350 mm in size, supplied with a 6-foot pole. The company had to provide flags of 900 mm width and 1350 mm length with 6-foot poles. “But the self-styled nationalists of the BJP even committed fraud in the flag and the pole. The flags supplied were reduced to 711 mm in length and 508 mm in width, while the pole was cut down from 6 feet to 4 feet. The BJP government committed a scam in the name of the Tiranga itself,” Sanjay Singh said.
The AAP MP further pointed out a shocking detail: the programme of distributing Tirangas to every home was meant to be completed before Independence Day, yet the tender was opened on August 16 — a day after the national festival. “These dishonest people brought shame upon the BJP across the nation. Those BJP leaders who held this substandard Tiranga in their hands should know that the souls of Shaheed-e-Azam Bhagat Singh, Shaheed Ashfaqullah Khan, Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose, Shaheed Chandrashekhar Azad, and all our revolutionary freedom fighters must have wept that the very party ruling the country today has dared to commit fraud even in the Tiranga for which they gave their lives. Without doubt, this scam by the BJP government has hurt the souls of our martyrs,” he said.
Sanjay Singh further revealed that three companies had participated in the tender — Anirat Contracts Pvt Ltd, Spesh for Business Solution Pvt Ltd, and Vinayak Product Company. The tender for supplying the Tiranga with poles was worth ₹4 crore. But without even opening the tender, the BJP government handed the order to Anirat Contracts Pvt Ltd after taking commission. The cost of each flag was fixed at ₹60, but the company delivered a substandard flag worth only ₹15. “Shockingly, Independence Day was on August 15, but the tender was opened only on August 16,” he said.
Directly addressing PM Narendra Modi, the BJP, and CM Rekha Gupta, Sanjay Singh said, “Do you people have no shame left? You commit scams in everything, but at least you should have spared the national flag — the pride and honour of India. At least you should have spared the souls of our martyrs. On Independence Day, at least you should have honoured the memory of our brave revolutionaries with dignity. But you are committing theft, dishonesty, and corruption even in the Tiranga.”
“What could be more shameful than this? There must be a thorough probe into the flag purchase, and those responsible must be arrested and sent to jail,” asserted Sanjay Singh.
