As hate politics rages across the country, Seelampur’s Kanwar camp—run by Muslims since 1994—sends a bold message: religion builds bridges, not walls. Inaugurating the camp, Leader of Opposition (LoP) in the Delhi Assembly, Atishi, called it a symbol of Ganga-Jamuni tehzeeb and a slap to divisive forces. She said Arvind Kejriwal’s government ensured top-class facilities for Kanwariyas and turned the yatra into a grand celebration.
Inaugurating a large Sadbhavna Kanwar camp in Seelampur on Wednesday, senior AAP leader and Delhi Assembly LoP Atishi stated, “I extend my greetings to everyone on the auspicious occasion of Sawan. This Sadbhavna Kanwar camp in Seelampur is a symbol of the Ganga-Jamuni tehzeeb. When we were children, we never even knew the religion of our neighbors. We celebrated both Diwali and Eid together.”
“This is the culture of Delhi and of our country—where people of all religions and different languages live together in harmony. But the unfortunate reality is that some people are indulging in the politics of religion, trying to pit followers of different faiths against one another, trying to divide people based on language. In contrast, this Sadbhavna camp represents the true strength of India,” she asserted.
Exposing divisive politics, Atishi said, “This Sadbhavna camp is a mirror to those who thrive on toxic politics. No matter how hard you try to divide us, people of every religion in this country stand united. People who speak different languages are one—and will always remain one. In this Kanwar camp, organized for years by Aam Aadmi Party MLA Chaudhary Zubair Ahmad and his team, there is a deeply moving spirit that reminds us: religion does not teach hatred.”
She continued, “When a Muslim brother folds his hands to respectfully send off a Shiv devotee for jal abhishek, it’s not just an act of service—it is the soul of India on display. This is our Bharat, where religion doesn’t build walls, but bridges hearts.”
Congratulating the organisers, Atishi said, “On behalf of all Delhiites, I extend my heartfelt congratulations to MLA Chaudhary Zubair and his entire team for this remarkable initiative. This Ganga-Jamuni culture must continue to flourish in our country.”
