In a strong show of support for the people of Haryana’s historic Anangpur village, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) on Sunday joined a massive Mahapanchayat to resist a conspiracy to erase the village’s 1300-year-old legacy. Acting on the directions of AAP National Convenor Arvind Kejriwal, a party delegation led by Delhi State President Saurabh Bharadwaj participated in the gathering and called for a united front against the BJP government’s actions. The AAP delegation included Brahm Singh Tanwar, Mahabal Mishra, Sahiram Pehalwan, Ramesh Pehalwan, and Krishan Jakhar—respected leaders of the Gurjar community.
Drawing parallels with the farmers’ movement against the three farm laws, Saurabh Bharadwaj asserted that collective resistance had forced the Centre to repeal laws once—and it can be done again. He challenged the BJP government to bring an ordinance to protect lakhs of lives and heritage, just as it had overturned a court ruling for its own benefit.
Addressing the Mahapanchayat in Anangpur village, Faridabad, on Sunday, AAP Delhi State President Saurabh Bharadwaj stated, “Three years ago, farmers began a historic battle against the Centre’s black laws. They braved heat, cold, rain—even lost 600 of their own—yet they did not back down. A year later, the government was forced to repeal the laws. That’s the power of collective resistance.”
He warned that saving Anangpur village would require a similarly sustained and united struggle. “The government hides behind court orders, but who went to court in the first place? It was the government itself, fighting against its own people. The state hires top lawyers, while villagers are left defenceless. The government should be defending its people in court—not prosecuting them.”
Saurabh Bharadwaj lambasted the BJP for manipulating judicial orders for political convenience. “When the Supreme Court ruled in favour of Delhi’s elected government, the Centre overturned it with an ordinance in just a week. When the Court created a transparent process for selecting the Chief Election Commissioner, the Centre nullified it immediately. Clearly, when it suits the BJP, neither the High Court nor Supreme Court matters—court orders are overruled overnight. Today, they invoke the court only because the current orders favour them.”
Calling for decisive on-ground resistance, he declared, “I want one promise from all of you. The day the bulldozers arrive in Anangpur, just raise your voice—and the entire Aam Aadmi Party will stand shoulder to shoulder with you. If we stand united in front of the bulldozers, no force can move us.”
The AAP Delhi State President emphasized that this isn’t just about land—it’s about uprooting lakhs of people, many of whom belong to the Gurjar community and other rural families. “If the Centre can pass ordinances overnight for its own benefit, it can surely do so to protect these families too.”
In a post on X, Saurabh Bharadwaj wrote: “Today’s Mahapanchayat in Anangpur was a powerful stand against the BJP government’s bulldozer assault. We stand firmly with the people of Anangpur in this fight. The rural belt is now united against this attempt to erase a 1300-year-old heritage. When we stand together, the BJP will have no choice but to back down.”
