On Dussehra, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) tore into the BJP over Delhi’s chaos and PM Modi’s no-show at the Ramlila in IP Extension. Delhi unit president Saurabh Bharadwaj stated that “after seeing the so-called four-engine BJP government’s work, Ravan drowned himself and committed suicide — perhaps that’s why the Prime Minister didn’t go to give fire to his effigy.” Senior leader and Punjab Prabhari Manish Sisodia held the BJP government’s mismanagement responsible for the rain-soaked fiasco that ruined Delhiites’ festival.
AAP Delhi unit president Saurabh Bharadwaj took to X and stated, “Residents and organisations of CR Park are extremely angry over the mismanagement during the immersion of Goddess Durga’s idol in the artificial pond at Astha Kunj near Nehru Place. Under the leadership of Arvind Kejriwal, the AAP government had started the system of artificial immersion at Astha Kunj and many other places across Delhi, and my team and I personally remained present there throughout the day to monitor it. It is unfortunate that the BJP government in Delhi wants to take credit without doing any work.”
Meanwhile, senior AAP leader and Punjab Prabhari Manish Sisodia said on X, “In a TV interview, Chief Minister Rekha Gupta had claimed that before the monsoon, the drains would be cleaned so thoroughly that not a single drop of water would get stuck anywhere. But because of the BJP government, the condition of Delhi today has ruined people’s Dussehra. Ramleela organisers have suffered losses worth crores. If BJP is in power, then this is what is possible. On the festival of Dussehra, the people of Delhi are in a terrible state.”
Just like on Dussehra, on the day of Durga Ashtami too, it rained in Delhi, and due to waterlogging Ramleela organisers faced severe difficulties. At the Ramleela ground in Rajouri Garden, waterlogging occurred, and the tall effigy of Ravana broke, fell to the ground, and got submerged in water. Similarly, in Shalimar Bagh constituency too, the Ramleela ground was filled with water. Delhi’s Chief Minister Rekha Gupta has been elected from Shalimar Bagh. Despite this, due to the lack of proper drainage management, Ramleela festivities were disrupted.
