In transformative achievement, the AAP has reduced incidents of stubble burning by 77% in Punjab. Senior AAP leader Dilip Pandey lauded the Bhagwant Mann led AAP government’s strides in tackling stubble burning. Once seen as unsolvable, the AAP has reduced stubble burning incidents from 8000 to 1866 within two years of rule.
Dilip Pandey credited the achievements to the pro-people model of governance championed by AAP National Convenor Arvind Kejriwal. He called on the BJP-led states to learn from the farmer friendly initiatives by the AAP in Punjab.
Senior AAP leader Dilip Pandey stated that since the Aam Aadmi Party took office in Punjab, they have launched several initiatives to address stubble burning. He said, “The Bhagwant Mann government established a dedicated Crop Residue Burning (CRB) Information and Management System, allocating over Rs 500 crore for its operations. They developed a three-tier monitoring system and employed both In-Situ and Ex-Situ methods for crop residue management. Through consistent efforts, extraordinary changes are now clearly visible on the ground.”
Highlighting the AAP government’s success in addressing stubble burning in Punjab, a once severe issue, Dilip Pandey asserted that, “Unlike BJP-led states like Uttar Pradesh and Haryana, which were more focused on blame games, Punjab has taken concrete steps to tackle this challenge. The data speaks for itself: recorded stubble burning incidents have dropped from around 8,000 in October 2022 to just 1,866 in 2024, just after two years of AAP in government.”
Dilip Pandey added that this sharp reduction highlights the impact environmental initiatives adopted under the leadership of Arvind Kejriwal. The Punjab government’s efforts are not only commendable but also offer a model for BJP-ruled states to follow.
Importantly, the AAP leader highlighted that these figures come from the Indian Agricultural Research Institute (IARI), a central government agency, affirm Punjab’s progress under AAP. He said, “Delhiites and the whole nation can see that where the BJP’s contribution amounts to zero, the AAP has received success in addressing what was once seen as an unsolvable issue.”
