The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has released its second list of candidates for the Delhi Assembly elections, announcing 20 new names, bringing the total to 31 candidates across 70 constituencies. Announced by AAP Delhi State Convenor Gopal Rai, post approval by the AAP Political Affairs Committee chaired by National Convenor Arvind Kejriwal, the list reflects a focus on grassroots activism and public feedback.
AAP’s Delhi State Convenor Gopal Rai stated that to speed up preparations for the Delhi Assembly elections, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) finalised its second list of candidates in a meeting of the Political Affairs Committee (PAC) chaired by the party’s National Convenor, Arvind Kejriwal.
He announced, “Today, 20 candidates were finalised, adding to the 11 candidates announced earlier in the first list. With this second list, the party has now revealed the names of 31 candidates for the 70 assembly constituencies in Delhi. Most of the candidates announced today have been actively working with AAP at the grassroots level and were selected based on feedback from the people of Delhi.”
Among the candidates announced today, Gopal Rai shared, “Dinesh Bhardwaj, a well-known athlete and current councillor, has been chosen to contest from Narela. Mukesh Goel, the current Leader of the House in the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD), will contest from Adarsh Nagar. From Mundka, Jasbir Karala, has been selected as the candidate, while Surender Pal Singh Bittu, a former MLA, will contest from Timarpur.”
Parvesh Ratan, a social worker and former candidate, has been chosen for Patel Nagar, and Deputy Speaker Rakhi Birla’s name has been finalised for Madipur. Pravin Kumar, a councillor, will contest Janakpuri, while Surendar Bhardwaj, has been chosen for Bijwasan. Social worker Joginder Solanki will contest from Palam.
Gopal Rai added that former Deputy CM Manish Sisodia has been announced as the candidate for Jangpura. Prem Kumar Chauhan, a current councillor, will contest Deoli, and Anjana Parcha, a former councillor, has been selected for Trilokpuri. Avadh Ojha, an educationist, will contest from Patparganj, while Vikas Bagga, the son of the current MLA, will contest Krishna Nagar.
From Gandhi Nagar, Naveen Choudhary (Deepu), a former candidate, has been chosen again. Padmashri Jitender Singh Shunty, a former MLA, will contest Shahdara, and Adil Ahmad Khan, the state secretary of the party, will contest from Mustafabad. Similarly, from Mangolpuri, Rakesh Jatav Dharamrakshak, from Rohini sitting councillor Pradeep Mittal and from Chandini Chowk, sitting councillor Punardeep Singh Sawhney (Sabby) will contest.
The AAP Delhi State Convenor asserted that AAP had already intensified its election preparations after releasing the first list of candidates. With today’s announcement of the second list, the party is actively working on the ground on a war footing. AAP National Convenor Arvind Kejriwal is conducting padyatra to engage with the public.
“Through initiatives like ‘Revdi Par Charcha,’ held over 2,000 times daily across various neighborhoods, AAP representatives are discussing the government’s work under Arvind Kejriwal’s leadership and gathering feedback from the people. Separate programs focused on women’s engagement in different localities are also ongoing,” he added.
Gopal Rai emphasised that the party is confident that this second list will further strengthen its election campaign. With active public support and continued efforts, AAP aims to form the government once again under Arvind Kejriwal’s leadership in Delhi.
Gopal Rai stated that most of these new candidates are our current councillors who were actively working in these constituencies. They were chosen based on their performance, as the party has been consistently gathering micro-feedback from the public in every constituency.
“Arvind Kejriwal has always emphasized a single core principle: work for the people, focus on performance, and keep delivering results. Based on public feedback and the positive performance of these councillors, the party has decided to field them as candidates,” concluded the AAP Delhi State Convenor.
