At the AAP headquarters during the Diwali Milan celebration, Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) National Convenor Arvind Kejriwal tore into the BJP government, saying it has devastated Delhi in just six months. He said the city that the AAP had rebuilt through years of hard work—with world-class schools, improved hospitals, free electricity, clean water, and well-maintained roads—now lies in disrepair under BJP rule. “Roads are broken, garbage piles up across the city, sewers overflow, and medicines are unavailable in hospitals. People are receiving electricity and water bills worth thousands of rupees, and in many areas, water supply has stopped altogether,” he said.
The AAP Chief pointed out that Delhiites voted for the BJP hoping for smoother governance since both the LG and the Central Government belong to the party, but instead, the city has been plunged into chaos.
Arvind Kejriwal extended heartfelt greetings to the people of Delhi and the entire nation on the auspicious occasions of Diwali, Dhanteras, Chhath, and Bhai Dooj. He conveyed his wishes while attending the Diwali Milan Samaroh organised by the AAP Delhi Mahila Wing. On the occasion of Dhanteras, the AAP Chief also performed a ceremonial pooja at the party headquarters, praying for the good health, peace, and prosperity of all Indians. The event witnessed the presence of Delhi State President Saurabh Bharadwaj, Mahila Wing President Sarika Chaudhary, and a large number of women party members.
Addressing the gathering, AAP National Convenor Arvind Kejriwal said that the people of Delhi are extremely distressed today. “The AAP government had worked tirelessly for ten years to beautify and strengthen Delhi. We built excellent schools, improved government hospitals, provided free electricity, ensured clean and sufficient water supply, and developed good roads. But the BJP government has ruined Delhi in just six months,” he said.
The AAP Chief noted that Delhi’s roads are broken, garbage is piled up everywhere, and it seems as if waste collection has completely stopped. “Sewers are overflowing, and filth can be seen across the city. In government hospitals, medicines are unavailable, machines lie broken, and mohalla clinics have been shut down,” he said.
Arvind Kejriwal stated, “Earlier, people used to get free electricity, but now, somehow, they are receiving electricity bills of ₹2,000–3,000. Water bills have also skyrocketed — in some areas, dirty water is flowing from taps, while in others, the supply has stopped altogether. In posh areas like Vasant Vihar, even malls are on the verge of closure due to severe water shortage. We have never seen Delhi in such a miserable state.”
Arvind Kejriwal added that Delhiites had voted for the BJP thinking that the BJP’s Lieutenant Governor (LG) was not allowing the AAP government to function. “People thought that since the Prime Minister, the LG, and the central government — all belong to the BJP — if the BJP comes to power in Delhi, good work will finally happen. But they have completely destroyed Delhi,” he said.
He pointed to the BJP’s politics of power and money, contrasting it with AAP’s people-centric approach. “We are not in politics for power. We came into politics to serve the people. Whether we are in power or not, our only objective is public service. Even today, when our government is not in power, the Aam Aadmi Party remains a strong force in Delhi. We must continue serving people selflessly to the best of our ability. The Almighty is keeping account of our service,” said Arvind Kejriwal.
