AAP National Convenor Arvind Kejriwal led a successful Padyatra in Burari constituency, where thousands of residents turned out to hear their beloved leader speak. Addressing the crowd, Arvind Kejriwal reinforced the AAP government’s commitment to ensuring safety and welfare for Delhi’s residents, announcing that the registration process for the Rs 1,000 monthly assistance for women will commence soon. He also emphasized his administration’s successes in providing 24×7 free electricity—a feat only he knows how to achieve.
The event saw Arvind Kejriwal warmly welcomed with garlands and shawls, as local MLA Sanjeev Jha and other leaders joined him in meeting and interacting with attendees. Streets were packed with people, many standing on balconies and rooftops, expressing their admiration and support for the AAP Convenor’s vision. Supportive slogans echoed as women adorned Arvind Kejriwal with traditional tilaks, as a symbol of blessing, expressing their hopes for his return as Chief Minister. They also expressed gratitude for the initiative of free bus travel for women, further underlining the deep bond he shares with the people of Delhi.
Arvind Kejriwal, while interacting with the public, humbly reflected on his journey. He said, “I was a very small and ordinary man. 10-12 years ago, no one knew who Arvind Kejriwal was in this country. Maybe you saw my truthfulness and honesty in giving me this responsibility.” Arvind Kejriwal expressed his gratitude and commitment, adding, “Ever since you people have given me the command of Delhi, I have tried to serve the people of Delhi by working hard 24 hours a day.”
The AAP Supremo addressed the crowd and said that almost everybody in Delhi has received a zero electricity bill at least once in their lives, emphasizing that the BJP governs 20 states, yet not one of them offers zero electricity bills. He criticized the BJP for not prioritizing the needs of the common people.
Arvind Kejriwal went on to highlight that electricity in BJP-ruled states is extremely expensive and that power cuts are still a daily issue. He reminded them of the days before the AAP government, when inverters and generators were a must-have in every household, but now that is no longer the case.
He further stated, “The BJP governs 20 states, and in none of them is electricity available 24 hours a day.” In contrast, Delhi had achieved 24×7 electricity supply under the AAP government. Arvind Kejriwal explained that this transformation took immense effort and hard work, saying, “In the past 10 years, we worked so hard to improve Delhi, and this hard work should not go to waste.”
Arvind Kejriwal, addressing the crowd, highlighted the significant improvements made in Delhi’s government schools since the Aam Aadmi Party took over the reins of the government. He said, “When we took over the government, the condition of government schools was terrible. Look at it now.” He added that the improvement in the quality of education was a result of the government’s efforts to uplift public education in Delhi.
Arvind Kejriwal drew a sharp contrast between Delhi and BJP-ruled states, particularly in terms of basic public services like electricity and education. He emphasized, “Today, the children of Delhi study in world-class government schools.”
He further challenged people from BJP-ruled states to compare their situation with Delhi’s progress: “In those 20 states ruled by the BJP—let me ask those from Uttar Pradesh and Bihar—call your relatives and ask them how many hours their electricity goes out, how much their electricity bills cost, and what the condition of the schools is.”
He urged the people to think carefully before voting, saying, “Before you vote, think about your electricity, water, schools, hospitals, mohalla clinics, and the many facilities that have been provided in Delhi.”
He highlighted the significant improvements made in Delhi’s infrastructure, stating, “Before we came, no roads were constructed in the unauthorised colonies; there was just dirt and mud everywhere, all the streets were unpaved. After we came, we built all the streets, and the remaining ones will also be built. Where there is filth, all filth will be cleaned up.”
He further emphasized his commitment to resolving the city’s challenges, saying, “They sent me to jail, and in my absence, they created chaos and filth across Delhi. Now that I’m back, I am ensuring the entire city is cleaned. All the cleaning will be done, the sewer work will be completed, and the water issues will also be resolved.”
Arvind Kejriwal assured the people of his complete support for the bus marshals and their rights, stating, “These bus marshals are my brothers, I & my party are the ones fighting for you; no one else will fight for you.” He emphasized the contrast in job security between Delhi and Gujarat, pointing out, “In Gujarat, even the police officers are on temporary contracts. “The BJP never makes anything permanent,” he said.
The AAP National Convenor also outlined a new initiative aimed at providing financial support to the women marshals of Delhi. He announced, “I will ensure you get your jobs back, those who were removed.” He then introduced a new monthly financial benefit: “Soon, we will start depositing ₹1,000 into every woman’s accounts every month. We will start the registration process very soon.”
He encouraged the crowd to register for the program, stating, “Once the registration begins, we will register all the mothers and sisters.” He added, “There’s just one condition—you must have a voter ID. Those who don’t have one, get your voter ID quickly.” Arvind Kejriwal assured that assistance would be provided for those needing help with voter ID registration, and he emphasized the importance of empowering women through economic support.
