The political storm over Delhi’s next Chief Minister finally settled on Tuesday as Atishi, the current Education and Finance Minister, was unanimously elected as the leader by AAP MLAs. In a decisive meeting chaired by AAP National Convenor Arvind Kejriwal, the Delhi’s Chief Ministership has been passed to Atishi following Arvind Kejriwal’s daunting resignation.
Senior leader Manish Sisodia condemned the alleged political conspiracy led by PM Modi, taking potshots at him for targeting AAP leaders with false charges. Now, Atishi steps up to lead Delhi until the upcoming elections, carrying the weight of both CM Arvind Kejriwal’s vision and the national capital’s future.
Reposting his former Deputy’s post, AAP National Convenor and Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal posts: “Best wishes to Atishi.”
Meanwhile, Senior AAP leader and Ex-Deputy CM of Delhi Manish Sisodia shares on his ‘X’ handle (erstwhile Twitter): “Prime Minister Modi hatched a very dirty political conspiracy and made false allegations against Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and other AAP leaders. Sent them to jail. Questioned their integrity. Tried to topple the government.”
He further writes in his post: “CM Arvind Kejriwal has courageously resigned from the post of Chief Minister and announced to go to the court of the people. Today, Atishi has been given the responsibility of the Chief Minister of Delhi till the elections. Today, she has two main tasks to share—first, the people of Delhi are deeply hurt by Arvind ji’s resignation and PM Modi’s conspiracy. Many people are crying and they want Arvind ji to become CM again. Atishi has to make Arvind Kejriwal the CM of Delhi again along with two crore people of Delhi.”
“In the next few months, to trouble the people of Delhi, BJP will try its best to end the facilities given by Arvind Kejriwal. It will try to stop free electricity. It will try to ruin schools and hospitals. It will try to stop free medicines. It will try to stop the work of cleaning drains and sewers. It is Atishi’s responsibility to protect the people of Delhi from this terror of BJP. I have full faith that Atishi will fulfill these difficult responsibilities very well. My heartfelt best wishes are with Atishi,” concluded the Ex-Deputy CM’s post.
On the other hand, after the meeting of the legislative party, AAP Delhi State Convenor and Cabinet Minister Gopal Rai said that a meeting of the AAP legislative party was called today. In the meeting, the responsibility of the Chief Minister till the Delhi Assembly elections has been unanimously given to Atishi.
The AAP Delhi State Convenor continued, “This responsibility had to be given in difficult circumstances. Because the BJP, its central government and the Prime Minister, under a conspiracy, misused the central agencies and ran a campaign to destroy the AAP and break the government of Delhi. By foiling all these campaigns of the BJP, the AAP has continued the unity of its MLAs, stability of the government, and works of the people of Delhi.”
He further added that BJP and the Prime Minister tried to make Arvind Kejriwal resign from jail so that the Delhi government could be toppled. But Arvind Kejriwal decided to continue working in the interest of the people of Delhi and that he would not resign from jail and would run the government from jail. Arvind Kejriwal also ran the government from jail.
“Arvind Kejriwal’s biggest strength is honesty. Arvind Kejriwal did so much work in Delhi with the power of his honesty that no state government in India has been able to do today. BJP tried mudslinging at Arvind Kejriwal’s honesty. In view of this, CM Arvind Kejriwal, after coming out of jail, decided that the Supreme Court of the country has released me from jail, but I will go to the people’s court. I will not become the Chief Minister of Delhi until the people of Delhi support me again,” affirmed Gopal Rai.
The Delhi Minister shared that in these circumstances when Arvind Kejriwal decided to resign, a meeting of the legislative party was held on Tuesday in this context. It was decided unanimously in the meeting that Atishi will remain the Chief Minister of Delhi till the next elections. “AAP wants the Delhi Assembly elections to be held in October-November. Until the elections are held and the people of Delhi do not make Arvind Kejriwal the Chief Minister with a huge majority, a proposal has been passed unanimously to make Atishi the Chief Minister of Delhi,” he added.
The senior AAP leader mentioned, “Atishi has been given two main responsibilities by all the MLAs. First, we will continue to work despite all the obstacles of BJP along with the two crore people of Delhi. Second, BJP wants to stop all the work done for the people of Delhi under the leadership of Arvind Kejriwal. BJP wants to stop free electricity and water. Wants to ruin government schools. Wants to close Mohalla clinics, wants to stop bus travel of women and pilgrimage of elderly people. The BJP had stopped the pension of elderly people of Delhi for five months. Atishi has been given the responsibility to foil all the conspiracies of BJP to stop the work of Delhiites.”
“We were fighting the conspiracies of the BJP. Therefore, the new Chief Minister has been given the responsibility to continue this struggle. A new government will be formed with the responsibility of protecting the work of Delhi from the conspiracies of BJP and its government,” asserted Gopal Rai.
