Just days before the Delhi Assembly elections, the Congress suffered another major setback on Monday as three-time MLA from Kondli, Amrish Singh Gautam, joined the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) along with his two sons and his entire team. Senior AAP leader and Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Singh welcomed Amrish Singh Gautam to the party at the AAP headquarters by presenting him with the party’s cap and stole. Sanjay Singh highlighted Amrish Singh Gautam’s long political career and welcomed him, his sons Avinash Gautam and Vikram Gautam, and their team to AAP. Amrish Singh Gautam pledged to extend Arvind Kejriwal’s welfare schemes to Delhi’s poor, Dalits, backward communities, and all sections of society.
During the press conference, AAP senior leader and Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Singh highlighted the significance of the occasion, calling it a moment of pride for the party. He said, “It is a matter of great joy for AAP that Amrish Singh Gautam, former Deputy Speaker of the Delhi Assembly and three-time MLA from Kondli, has decided to join us.”
He added that with a long and dedicated political journey in Congress, Amrish Singh Gautam has worked in various capacities and served society. Sanjay Singh said, “Inspired by Arvind Kejriwal’s policies, he has now chosen to be part of the AAP family. We wholeheartedly welcome him.”
Sanjay Singh also announced that Amrish Singh Gautam’s sons, Avinash Gautam and Vikram Gautam—who has contested municipal elections in the past—along with their entire team, are now part of the AAP family.
AAP Kondli MLA and Candidate Kuldeep Kumar also expressed his enthusiasm, stating, “With Amrish Singh Gautam joining AAP, our Kondli Assembly constituency will be strengthened. Just as AAP has been working to further Babasaheb Ambedkar’s ideology, we will collectively work to carry his vision forward.
“On one hand, there is a party that removes Babasaheb Ambedkar’s statue from Parliament, and on the other, there is AAP, which has issued orders in Delhi and Punjab to make Ambedkar’s statue mandatory in every government office,” he added.
MLA Amrish Singh Gautam shared his vision, saying, “For a long time, we have been aligned with the ideology of the Aam Aadmi Party. By joining AAP, we are connecting with Arvind Kejriwal, Babasaheb Ambedkar, and Shaheed Bhagat Singh’s vision as common people for the common man.”
He further stated with enthusiasm, “We will become the voice of the people and work with Arvind Kejriwal to serve Delhi. Arvind Kejriwal’s intent to deliver welfare schemes to the common man is inspiring, and we are joining this mission to bring these benefits to the poor, Dalits, backward classes, and all sections of society.”
Avinash Gautam, Amrish Singh Gautam’s son, also expressed his commitment, saying, “Under the leadership of Arvind Kejriwal, we will work in the interest of the people. We will strive to take his ideas and vision to every individual.” This development is being seen as a significant boost for AAP in the Kondli constituency as the party continues to attract leaders inspired by its people-centric policies and vision.
