Even a brief spell of rain is enough to plunge large parts of Delhi into chaos—roads turning into rivers, alleys into ponds, and daily life grinding to a halt. Holding the BJP’s Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) squarely responsible for this civic disaster, AAP’s Leader of Opposition in the MCD House, Ankush Narang, has written to Mayor Raja Iqbal Singh demanding immediate action. “All four engines of the BJP have sunk in Delhi’s rainwater,” Ankush Narang remarked, slamming the municipal drainage collapse and urging urgent desilting and relief measures for affected residents.
In a letter to the Mayor, MCD LoP Ankush Narang raised alarm over the severe waterlogging witnessed across several parts of Delhi—including Sadar Bazar, ITO, Patparganj, Karol Bagh, Mundka, Shalimar Bagh, and Moti Bagh—after recent heavy rainfall. “Roads have turned into rivers and lanes into small ponds,” he wrote, highlighting how the public is being forced to endure extreme hardship.
Ankush Narang held the MCD and the administration squarely responsible, calling it a reflection of “gross negligence and administrative failure.” He stated that such situations recur every monsoon, yet no concrete steps have ever been taken to provide a permanent solution. “The drainage system has completely collapsed, bringing everyday life to a standstill,” he said.
Writing in his capacity as an elected representative and Leader of the Opposition, Ankush Narang demanded that the Mayor immediately initiate relief efforts in the waterlogged areas. He urged prompt cleaning and repair of the drainage system, along with financial assistance and compensation for affected residents. For a long-term fix, he called for the formation of an expert committee to overhaul the city’s drainage infrastructure.
He also reminded the Mayor that this is not a time for blame games but for public service. “The suffering of the people can no longer be ignored. We hope you will take urgent steps to resolve this serious issue,” he concluded.
Earlier today, Aam Aadmi Party councillors held a protest outside the BJP Mayor’s office at the Civic Centre, demanding accountability for the worsening waterlogging crisis across the capital.
