The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has slammed the Lieutenant Governor’s (LG) office for deploying obstructive tactics, asserting that the BJP-appointed LG is making desperate attempts to derail Delhi’s development by probing MLA LAD funds and stalling critical public works.
The AAP has stated, “There are constant efforts by the office of the BJP appointed Lieutenant Governor (LG) to stop all development works in the state of Delhi. To create problems concerning infrastructure in Delhi, first the Delhi Jal Board (DJB) was crippled by stopping the utilization of funds. Even though more than ₹4,000 crores were allocated to DJB for water and sewer works, complications were created by the LG’s favorite officers. Most of the works of DJB were crippled. The DJB was not allowed to relay sewer lines, replace sewer lines, desilt sewer lines, install new water lines, tubewells etc.”
The party further added that similarly, more than ₹500 crores were allocated to the Mayor fund under the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD). However, LG’s favourite officers conspired against the people of Delhi in such a way that the mayor fund of ₹500 crores is lying unutilized. This fund could have been used for the construction of drainage systems and MCD roads. However, this fund has not been allowed to be used and is lying unutilized. Similarly, Mukhyamantri Sadak Punarnirman Yojana (MSPY), which was used to lay down or relay roads, has also been stopped by the officers who directly come under the control of LG.
“Now, after stopping all the works under different schemes the LG office has realized that there are still works going on under the MLA LAD scheme.
In the past also, many efforts have been made by the LG office and the officers who come directly under LG to create problems in MLA LAD funds. This is another desperate attempt by the LG office to stop the works of Delhi,” the AAP mentioned.
The AAP shared, “There is no one stopping audit of the MLA LAD funds, the regular process of audit naturally happens concerning all the works under the Govt. However, it is another attempt of BJP appointed LG to stop all the ongoing works under the MLA LAD scheme.”
“We welcome any inquiry, however, it should not affect the works of the people,” stated the Aam Aadmi Party.
