Lambasting Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s decision to declare a ceasefire with Pakistan “without achieving any strategic objective,” the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) held widespread protests across Delhi on Wednesday, pouting at the BJP government for capitulating under foreign pressure and squandering a historic opportunity. Through human banners unfurled at major intersections, flyovers, and metro stations, AAP volunteers raised slogans against the Prime Minister, asserting that the Indian Army could have reclaimed Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK) had the government not bowed to US intervention.
AAP’s National Media In-Charge Anurag Dhanda took to X and wrote: “…The whole country knows that Modi ji has lost a golden opportunity to acquire PoK under the pressure of America. Both the valour of the Indian Army and the cowardice of Modiji will be recorded in history.”
On Wednesday, the AAP held human banners at major intersections, flyovers and metro stations across Delhi—including ITO, Kalkaji, Laxmi Nagar and Karol Bagh—to protest the Modi Government’s decision to declare a ceasefire with Pakistan under pressure from the United States.
Speaking at Kalkaji, AAP leader Vijay Sheryaar said, “The entire country is asking PM Narendra Modi why he agreed to a ceasefire with Pakistan so easily. The nation was united behind the Indian Army’s action against Pakistan. AAP, Congress, Samajwadi Party and all opposition parties stood firmly with the Prime Minister. This was a historic opportunity for the Prime Minister to display his so-called ‘56-inch chest’. But PM Modi surrendered before US President Trump and announced a ceasefire.
He pointed out that it was a golden opportunity to teach Pakistan a lesson and take back Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK). But PM Modi lost that opportunity. A moment like this may not come again. Today, Pakistan is claiming it has defeated India. Even after the ceasefire, Pakistani drones continue to be spotted within Indian territory.
Meanwhile, AAP leader Shivani Chauhan stated, “PM Narendra Modi had launched ‘Operation Sindoor’ and the entire country, along with all opposition parties, stood solidly behind him. Every Indian wanted justice for the innocent civilians who were killed in the terror attack at Pahalgam. But when the news of a ceasefire between India and Pakistan came from the US President, the nation was shocked. That news should have come from our Prime Minister or the Indian Army, not a foreign leader. Why are we learning about decisions on a matter between India and Pakistan from the head of a third country?”
She reasoned that every Indian is deeply disappointed. India had a strong opportunity to reclaim PoK. All political parties and the entire nation stood with PM Narendra Modi. Such an opportunity may not come again.
Shivani Chauhan added, “When there was talk of recruiting volunteers in Chandigarh, countless youth came forward to say they stood with the Indian Army and the central government. Everyone stood with India. But the Prime Minister announced a ceasefire under pressure from Trump. Every Indian is angry with this decision and we will oppose it.”
“Not a single political party criticised PM Narendra Modi or the central government. All parties declared they were united. But despite this, a ceasefire was declared under American pressure. No agreement was even reached. Meanwhile, Pakistan is claiming victory in the war. It is extremely unfortunate that at a time when every Indian stood united, the Prime Minister chose to call off military action,” said Shivani Chauhan.
AAP leader Bhavna Bidhuri said, “Through this human banner, we want to send a clear message to the Prime Minister—that he should have responded strongly to the Pakistani terrorist attack on tourists in Pahalgam. Our country was in a very strong position. When the war began, India made Pakistan bite the dust. There was no need for a ceasefire. The entire world stood with India, along with the Opposition. The world has acknowledged that Pakistan harbours terrorists. Even the money Pakistan receives from the World Bank is spent on terrorism. There was absolutely no need to call a ceasefire in such circumstances.”
