The secret alliance between the BJP and the Congress may finally be out in the open. On Monday, as the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) holds elections for Chairman and Deputy Chairman of the Rohini Zone’s Ward Committee, all eyes will be on where Congress’s loyalties lie. With the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and the BJP-backed Indraprastha Vikas Party (IVP) locked in a direct contest, the Congress—holding two crucial votes—must show its hand.
AAP Delhi State President Saurabh Bharadwaj posted on X, “On Monday, elections will be held for the Chairman and Deputy Chairman of the Rohini Zone of the Municipal Corporation of Delhi. On one side is the BJP-supported IBP panel, and on the other is the Aam Aadmi Party’s panel. The President of Delhi Congress should clarify which side Congress’s two councillors will vote for on Monday. The relationship between the Congress and the BJP will come to light on Monday.”
It is noteworthy that in Narela Zone, Shweta Khatri has filed her nomination for the post of Chairperson from AAP and Neha for the post of Vice-Chairperson. Similarly, in Civil Lines Zone, Gagan Choudhary has filed for Chairperson and Timsy Sharma for Vice-Chairperson; from Rohini Zone, Amrit Jain has filed for Chairperson and Mamta Gupta for Vice-Chairperson.
From City-SP Zone, Councillor Vikas Tank has filed for Chairperson and Pooja for Vice-Chairperson; from Karol Bagh Zone, Puneet Rai has filed for Chairperson and Kavita Chauhan for Vice-Chairperson; from West Zone, Nirmala Kumari has filed for Chairperson and Sahil Gangwal for Vice-Chairperson; and from South Zone, Rajeev Sanwal has filed for Chairperson and Arun Narwaria for Vice-Chairperson.
Likewise, from Shahdara South Zone, Dhirender Kumar (Bunty Gautam) has filed for Chairperson and Beena for Vice-Chairperson; from Shahdara North Zone, Priyanka Saxena has filed for Chairperson and Shivani Panchal for Vice-Chairperson; from Najafgarh Zone, Tilotama Chaudhary has filed for Chairperson and Poonam Bharadwaj for Vice-Chairperson; and from Central Zone, Sarika Chaudhary has filed her nomination for the post of Chairperson.
