The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) brushed off Rajendra Pal Gautam’s defection to the Congress as just another chapter in the shifting tides of politics. Senior AAP leader and Delhi State Vice President Kuldeep Kumar dismissed the move as routine, highlighting that party-hopping before elections is nothing new. “When tickets are in doubt, some jump ship,” he remarked, underscoring the party’s calm response to the ex-AAP leader’s exit.
On the entry of the AAP MLA from Seemapuri and former minister Rajendra Pal Gautam in the Congress, state Vice President of the party Kuldeep Kumar said that leaders keep coming and going during elections. “People change sides, come and go. The AAP gave all due respect to Rajendra Pal Gautam. The party entrusted him with significant responsibilities by appointing him as a minister and overseeing multiple departments,” he added.
The AAP Delhi State Vice President further added that before elections, switching the parties is a common trend, often when candidates sense that the ground realities are not in their favor, and their chances of securing a ticket are uncertain, then they change sides. This is a recurring phenomenon in politics and is by no means unusual. “I wish him all the best in his future political endeavors, and may he enjoy good health and happiness,” he added.
