New Delhi, 08 April 2024;

The Aam Aadmi Party, on Monday, launched a campaign against the arrest of Delhi’s Chief Minister and AAP’s National Convenor Shri Arvind Kejriwal. The new campaign titled ‘Jail ka Jawab, Vote se’ (Respond to the jail with your vote) is aimed at increasing public awareness about the fraudulent arrest of Shri Arvind Kejriwal and to encourage them to vote for him to hit back at the BJP for the CM’s wrongful arrest. Today, in front of the media, the AAP senior leaders launched this campaign ahead of the Lok Sabha elections to appeal to the public to fight against the dictatorship of the BJP and to support Shri Arvind Kejriwal by giving him votes. Senior AAP leaders Dr Sandeep Pathak, Shri Gopal Rai, Shri Sanjay Singh, along with AAP National Secretary Shri Pankaj Gupta launched this campaign on Monday.

Addressing the media during a press conference, AAP National General Secretary (Organisation) and Rajya Sabha member Dr Sandeep Pathak stated, “The nation has seen how a conspiracy was hatched by the Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi against Shri Arvind Kejriwal by getting him arrested to eliminate him from the upcoming Lok Sabha elections. Something like this has happened for the first time when a sitting Chief Minister has been put behind bars right before the election to stop him from campaigning. Arvind Kejriwal has spent his entire life fighting for the country and its citizens. Ever since he formed government in Delhi, he has worked tirelessly, day and night, for the happiness of Delhi and its families. He considered each family of Delhi as his own.”

Dr Sandeep Pathak said no other Chief Minister had prioritized quality education for your children, Shri Arvind Kejriwal ensured that your children receive good education, he made all the necessary arrangements to make that happen. He took care of every family and its needs. He brought significant developments in healthcare systems to give you free yet quality treatment and medication. He made electricity free for people so that they could save money. Water, which is a basic need for survival, was a matter of panic in Delhi, there used to huge chaos over water in Delhi, Shri Arvind Kejriwal made arrangements for that too. Women who had to travel far distances for work were spending more money on travelling than what they were making, he made bus tickets free for women. He also announced a new scheme in this year’s fiscal budget where women will get Rs 1000 every month. Kejriwal government has worked for the happiness and wellbeing of every family in Delhi, they are now able to save more money. The most important thing is that Shri Arvind Kejriwal took care of their honour and respect, he stated.

Dr. Sandeep Pathak further added, “Shri Arvind Kejriwal has duly fulfilled all his responsibilities, with utmost dedication and honesty. Today, I believe it is the collective responsibility of all of us, the 2-crore people of Delhi to fight for justice, to fulfill our duty towards our CM. Shri Arvind Kejriwal has done so much for every family of Delhi, he has sacrificed everything, he staked everything, including his own ministers and government, to serve the people. He has never allowed anything to stop him from fighting for the people and their rights. Today, the world is anticipating what will happen in Delhi. How the people of Delhi will bring justice to their Chief Minister who has worked tirelessly for their happiness?”

The AAP National General Secretary (Organisation) said Delhi had given birth to an honest politics. Today, a conspiracy is being hatched to eliminate this honest politics by throwing constant hurdles and challenges. Now it is Delhi’s responsibility to protect and safeguard this honest politics. If Shri Arvind Kejriwal is not there, then who will make good schools and hospitals? If Shri Arvind Kejriwal is not there, then who will give you continuous water supply? If Shri Arvind Kejriwal is not there, then how will there be free travel in bus for women? If Shri Arvind Kejriwal is not there, then who will take care of your families? He has always fulfilled his duty of being a good son, a good brother, and a good leader. Now, it is our turn to fulfill our responsibility towards him, he stated.

Announcing the new campaign, Dr Sandeep Pathak stated, “Today we are launching this campaign called ‘Jail ka Jawab, Vote se’. We need not avenge this arrest by any other means but our votes. We appeal to all the citizens to join our movement, our campaign and help us raise the awareness amongst people that it is important to become the strength of Shri Arvind Kejriwal today. If he falls weak, then who will take care of them? We will take this campaign door to door and request people to show their support, they are already worried and upset with the arrest of Shri Arvind Kejriwal. We will turn our struggle into a campaign. The public will give its mandate by voting in the elections, Jail ka Jawab, Vote se,” he concluded.

AAP’s Delhi State Convenor and Cabinet Minister, Shri Gopal Rai stated, “Ever since Shri Arvind Kejriwal has been arrested, there is only one question in everyone’s mind, how will the election campaign in Delhi be held now? It is now the responsibility of the people who love Shri Arvind Kejriwal, people he has worked for, to work for him. Shri Arvind Kejriwal has never let down the honour and respect of the people of Delhi. Today, the BJP’s dictatorial government has sent him to the Tihar Jail, but it is now the duty of Delhi to protect his honour for the work he has done for all of us.”

Shri Gopal Rai said yesterday, people across the nation and the entire world observed mass fast as a form of Satyagrah. Election in Delhi is no longer just an election, it will become an agitation, a movement. The way the protests are going on throughout the country since 21st March (CM’s arrest) and the way people supported us by turning up in large numbers in the Ramlila Maidan, we will continue the movement against dictatorship in similar manner. With this campaign, we will meet more people, go door to door and connect with people of Delhi who had chosen Shri Arvind Kejriwal as their CM. We will together put the last brick in this movement by casting our votes on 25th May, Shri Gopal Rai stated.

“They (BJP) are now compelling the resignation of Shri Arvind Kejriwal or else they will impose the President’s Rule. They can impose the President Rule, arrest our Chief Minister Shri Arvind Kejriwal, and in return, the public will soon give their mandate and erase them from Lok Sabha, exactly how they were given farewell from the Legislative Assembly elections and the MCD. It is our appeal to the public to vote against the dictatorial rule. If Shri Arvind Kejriwal has ever done anything for you, then you must vote for him. We do not need to come out on streets to do that, our vote is enough. Your votes are enough to break down their dictatorial rule. We can open the locks of Tihar jail with our votes and bring back our Chief Minister Shri Arvind Kejriwal. We must remember the date, 25th May 2024. Every Delhiite must get ready to avenge the CM’s arrest with their votes, ‘Jail ka Jawab, Vote se’. This is a fight against dictatorship, we must fight this together and come out victorious,” Shri Gopal Rai concluded.

AAP Rajya Sabha MP Shri Sanjay Singh, also appealed to the people to recall Shri Arvind Kejriwal’s face when they go to vote. He stated “Whenever you go out to cast your votes, remember to look at Shri Arvind Kejriwal’s face. Take a look at the electricity bill which has been reduced down to a zero. Take a look at your child’s face, who used to go to dilapidated school and is now studying in air-conditioned classroom, look at the Mohalla clinic which now provides free medicines and free tests for all the treatments and tests, see your daughter’s and sister’s face who travels free and safely in the buses, and also the faces of the elderly people in your family for whom Shri Arvind Kejriwal became their Shravan Kumar and made their wishes of ‘Teerth Yatra’ true, also remember the ‘Farishtey Scheme’ that he formulated…Keep all these things in mind before stepping out to cast your vote on May 25,” said the AAP Rajya Sabha MP.

He further stated, “Your son has been put behind bars by a dictator. Your son, your brother, and the most popular Chief Minster whom you, the people of Delhi, elected three times in a row with huge majority. They have put such a person in jail who gave up his well-paying job in the IRS to serve his nation. You have to avenge all of this in the upcoming election through the power of your votes. This is why we have chosen this slogan, Jail ka Jawab, Vote se.”

Shri Sanjay Singh then addressed the people of Delhi and said, “Tell me with your hand on your heart, do you think you will get all these facilities if Shri Arvind Kejriwal does not come back as your CM? If he’s not there, would you get free electricity, water, treatment, healthcare facilities, bus tickets, and pilgrimage? There have been numerous governments post-independence, but has anyone ever thought of giving all of these facilities to the public? This is why they (BJP) wants to stop these facilities by keeping Shri Arvind Kejriwal in prison. This is why we’re saying, ‘Jail ke taale tootenge, Kejriwal chhootenge’ (Locks of jails will break and Kejriwal will come out). Now the public has to give their mandate by voting.

AAP National Secretary Shri Pankaj Gupta, also appealed to the public by saying, “The movement of electricity, water, education, and health started by Shri Arvind Kejriwal in Delhi has today spread beyond Delhi and has reached different states. The people of Punjab also gave us a chance. It also started in Punjab, Gujarat and Goa. Our MLAs are bringing the same ideas to different areas of the country. It is because of his increasing popularity that he has to sit in the jail. ‘Jail ka Jawab, Vote se’ is not just the call of Delhi but the call of the entire country. Today the call of the entire country is how to remove this dictatorial government from power. And how to bring a government which can take forward the ideas of Arvind Kejriwal. We all together will say to the people of Delhi that this time we have to stand together and oust this dictatorial government from power and respond to the incarceration of Arvind Kejriwal with our votes,” he concluded.
