The Delhi Government under the leadership of CM Shri Arvind Kejriwal will upgrade Ghonda SPS. The project is set to benefit lacs of residents of North East Delhi. On Saturday, Dy CM Shri Manish Sisodia approved a project worth Rs 16.65 crore for upgradation of Ghonda Sewer Pumping Station and replacement of existing pipelines. “Under the leadership of CM Shri Arvind Kejriwal, Delhi Government is committed to make the national capital one of the cleanest and most beautiful cities in the world, Redevelopment of Delhi’s sewer network a key step in this direction,” Shri Manish Sisodia.
Shri Manish Sisodia said that the existing sewage pipeline in the Ghonda area is approximately 20 years old. Over these 2 decades, the population of the surrounding areas has also increased substantially, leading to an increasing sewage load on these pipelines. In light of this, it has been decided that along with replacing the existing pipeline here, the sewage pump station will also be upgraded so that there is no problem like sewage overflow in the future and also the local people do not face any kind of trouble.
The Deputy CM said that the Delhi Government under the leadership of Chief Minister Shri Arvind Kejriwal is determined to make the capital one of the cleanest and most beautiful cities of the world. In this direction, it is very important to improve the sewage network of Delhi. In light of this, the government is working to lay new sewage lines in different parts of Delhi and upgrade the existing sewage network. The up-gradation of Ghonda’s sewer pumping station is also a part of this episode.
It is noteworthy that with the upgradation of the existing sewage pumping station of Ghonda aimed at increasing its capacity to 20 MGD, thousands of residents of nearby areas like Bhajanpura, Yamuna Vihar and many other colonies will be benefited and the problem of sewage overflow will be eliminated in these colonies.

Deputy Chief Minister Shri Manish Sisodia said that building and redeveloping infrastructure for water supply and sewage collection is one of the government’s most crucial and consequential responsibilities. “People pay taxes, and are entitled to the right to better quality infrastructure facilities. The Delhi government has set a target to clean the Yamuna River by 2025. Under this initiative, there is a plan to connect 100% of the houses in Delhi with sewage lines. Chief Minister Shri Arvind Kejriwal has given the responsibility of cleaning the Yamuna by February 2025 to the Delhi Jal Board. The Delhi Government has successfully rejuvenated schools & hospitals over its previous term, and cleaning the Yamuna has become a primary goal and focus of the Delhi Government for this term.” He said that untreated sewage is one of the leading causes for the contamination of Yamuna. This is why the Delhi Government is constantly working to expand the sewer network all over Delhi and is getting several new STPs constructed and existing STPs upgraded, so that the mission to clean the Yamuna succeeds.

उपमुख्यमंत्री व जलमंत्री मनीष सिसोदिया ने शनिवार को उत्तरी-पूर्वी दिल्ली के घोंडा इलाक़े में जल-निकासी को बेहतर करने के क्रम में वहाँ मौजूदा सीवेज़ पाइपलाइन को बदलने व उसकी क्षमता बढ़ाकर अपग्रेड करने के लिए 16.65 करोड़ रुपये लागत के परियोजना कार्य को मंज़ूरी दी।
इस मौक़े पर श्री सिसोदिया ने कहा कि घोंडा क्षेत्र में मौजूदा सीवर पाइपलाइन लगभग 20 साल पुरानी हो चुकी है। इन 2 दशकों में आस-पास के इलाक़े की जनसंख्या भी बढ़ी है। जिससे इन पाइपलाइनों पर दबाव बढ़ा है। इसे देखते हुए निर्णय लिया गया है कि यहाँ मौजूदा पाइपलाइन को बदलने के साथ सीवेज पंप स्टेशन को अपग्रेड भी किया जाएगा ताकि भविष्य में सीवर ओवरफ़्लो जैसी कोई समस्या उत्पन्न न हो और साथ ही स्थानीय लोगों को किसी प्रकार की परेशानी का सामना न करना पड़े।
श्री सिसोदिया ने कहा कि मुख्यमंत्री अरविंद केजरीवाल जी के नेतृत्व में दिल्ली सरकार राजधानी को विश्व के सबसे साफ़-सुथरे व सुंदर शहरों में शामिल करने को प्रतिबद्ध है। इस दिशा में दिल्ली के सीवर नेटवर्क को बेहतर बनाना बेहद महत्वपूर्ण है। ऐसे में सरकार दिल्ली के विभिन्न हिस्सों में नई सीवर लाइन डालने और मौजूदा सीवर नेटवर्क को अपग्रेड करने का काम का रही है। घोंडा के सीवर पंपिंग स्टेशन का अपग्रदेशन भी इसी कड़ी का एक हिस्सा है।
बता दे कि घोंडा के मौजूदा सीवर पंपिंग स्टेशन के अपग्रडेशन के साथ इसकी क्षमता 20 एमजीडी तक बढ़ाने से आस-पास के इलाक़े जैसे भजनपुरा,यमुना विहार सहित अन्य कई कॉलोनियों के हजारों निवासियों को फ़ायदा मिलेगा और कॉलोनियों में सीवर ओवरफ्लो जैसी समस्या उत्पन्न नहीं होगी|
2025 तक यमुना को पूरी तरह साफ करना केजरीवाल सरकार का मुख्य लक्ष्य
उपमुख्यमंत्री मनीष सिसोदिया ने कहा कि पानी व सीवर के इंफ्रास्ट्रक्चर को विकसित करना सरकार का काम है। लोग टैक्स देते हैं, इस कारण बेहतर इंफ्रास्ट्रक्चर सुविधाएँ उनका हक है। दिल्ली सरकार ने यमुना नदी को 2025 तक साफ़ करने का लक्ष्य रखा है। इसके तहत दिल्ली के 100 फीसदी घरों को भी सीवर लाइन से जोड़ने का प्लान है। मुख्यमंत्री अरविंद केजरीवाल ने फरवरी 2025 तक यमुना को साफ करने की जिम्मेदारी दिल्ली जल बोर्ड को दी है, जिस तरह पिछले कार्यकाल में दिल्ली सरकार ने स्कूलों और अस्पतालों का कायाकल्प किया, वैसे ही इस बार यमुना को भी प्राथमिकता के आधार पर साफ करना ही मुख्य मकसद है। उन्होंने कहा कि यमुना के दूषित होने का एक कारण अनट्रीटेड सीवर है| इसलिए केजरीवाल सरकार पूरी दिल्ली में सीवर नेटवर्क बेहतर बना रही है और बड़ी संख्या में नए एसटीपी का निर्माण व मौजूदा एसटीपी का अपग्रेडेशन करवा रही है ताकि यमुना को साफ़ किया जा सके|
