Under the leadership of CM Shri Arvind Kejriwal, the Delhi Government is firmly committed to strengthening and ensuring transparency in the Public Distribution System (PDS) in Delhi. In pursuit of this aim, Food and Civil Supplies Minister Shri Imran Hussain chaired a meeting with the Commissioner (F&S) of the Food Supplies Department. The meeting was convened to review the distribution of free ration under the National Food Security Act (NFSA) and the One Nation One Ration Card (ONORC) scheme throughout the capital.

In this meeting, the Food Supplies Department informed Minister Shri Imran Hussain that the distribution of ration under NFSA to ration beneficiaries for December 2023 had already commenced from today i.e. 1st December 2023. It was further conveyed that the distribution of ration under NFSA for December 2023 be provided free of cost to NFSA beneficiaries, including migrant beneficiaries, under the One Nation One Ration Card (ONORC) Scheme.

The F&S Minister assured that sufficient ration is available under the ration portability scheme and there is no need to panic in obtaining the ration. The F&S Minister stated, “The FPS dealers have been directed to distribute full entitlement under NFSA and ONORC in one go to the ration beneficiaries.”

The Minister directed the Commissioner(F&S) to ensure that no beneficiary under the ration portability ONORC scheme should be deprived of getting free ration in the capital as sufficient ration is available in ration shops. To strengthen the functioning of circle offices in Delhi, the Commissioner (F&S) briefed the F&S Minister at length regarding the infrastructural & renovation work of various circle offices functioning in Delhi. Minister Shri Imran Hussain further directed that in the case of if the office building is in a dilapidated condition, it should be shifted to a new location. The F&S Minister further directed that circle offices be provided adequate infrastructure including space staff, computers and other mechanisms for the smooth functioning of office work.

During the meeting, Shri Hussain shared, “The Kejriwal Government is committed to providing free ration to all the beneficiaries in a time-bound manner, and the Department needs to push up their efforts to provide free ration regularly to the eligible beneficiaries in a transparent manner. The Kejriwal Government is firmly committed to resolving public grievances related to the public distribution system in a timely and expeditious manner.”
