Biography
Imran Hussain is the Minister of Food and Civil Supplies, Elections, He marked his electoral debut with a significant win in the 2015 Delhi Assembly elections, securing victory with a substantial margin of 33,877 votes. His commitment to spreading social and political awareness, especially in the Walled City, showcases his dedication to social justice for the underprivileged.
Hussain’s initiatives to address environmental issues in Delhi are commendable. He directed land-owning agencies to crack down on the open burning of garbage and leaves, increasing vigilance and prosecuting violators. Additionally, he implemented measures such as banning truck movements during peak hours, shutting down thermal plants, and mandating Euro VI standards for vehicular emissions from 2017.
In a letter to Union Environment Minister Anil Madhav Dave, Hussain emphasised the urgent need to convert existing wood-based crematoria into green crematoria to combat air pollution. He called for the formation of a technical committee to draft a standardised design for green crematoria, highlighting the significant contribution of cremation to air pollution.
