NEW DELHI:

As the Lok Sabha elections draw nearer, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) finds its ranks swelling with the addition of over 120 legal professionals from various district courts, high courts, and Sales Tax Bar Associations across Delhi. Influenced by the impactful policies spearheaded by Chief Minister Shri Arvind Kejriwal, this influx of legal talent marks a significant bolstering of AAP’s support base. In a ceremonial gesture, AAP senior leader and Law Minister Atishi extended a warm welcome to these lawyers, who cited Kejriwal’s dedication to enhancing the lives of Delhi’s citizens, including the legal fraternity, as their motivation for joining the party.

While addressing the young lawyers and welcoming them to the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), Senior Leader and Delhi Law Minister Atishi remarked, “When a lawyer begins practicing law, their journey starts with the country’s constitution, which grants equal rights to all citizens. It is the responsibility of lawyers to safeguard the rights of individuals whenever they are violated. Lawyer companions fight daily for the rights of common people, ensuring their rights are protected.”

She said that in the past 10 years, since the government of PM Narendra Modi has been in power in the country, unemployment and inflation have risen significantly, but efforts have also been made to end our country’s constitution. The constitution gives these people equal rights, and the right to vote, and makes the country a democracy. Today, that constitution is being violated daily, and those who had sworn to protect the constitution are now engaged in destroying it. Whether it’s stealing from legislators or stealing elections or putting opposition leaders in jail using the ED-CBI, the BJP has come up with new ways to destroy the constitution.

AAP Senior Leader said, “We all saw the Chandigarh Mayoral Polls. CCTV cameras were on during the polling, and all actions of the presiding officer were recorded in it. Otherwise, the BJP would have claimed to win the elections fairly. But upon seeing the evidence, even the Supreme Court had to say that this is Murder of Democracy by the BJP.”

She added “At present, the independent investigative agencies are acting like a thug, with the Electoral Bonds being the latest example. The pillars of democracy are crumbling nationwide. Atishi emphasized that in this era, to save our country, we must save our Constitution. The 2024 elections are not just about choosing one party but about saving the nation’s Constitution. She stated that our lawyer companions understand best that if the Constitution is not preserved in this country, people will lose their rights. Therefore, I urge that in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections, the INDIA Alliance be elected to save the nation’s Constitution.”
