In a concerted effort to address unemployment and foster empowerment among Delhiites, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Senior leader and Delhi State Secretary Reena Gupta spearheaded a transformative ‘Rozgar Mela’ on Saturday, March 9, 2024. Held at the revered Shri Guru Ravidas Mandir on Hospital Road, Bhogal, the event aimed to amplify CM Shri Arvind Kejriwal’s vision of providing equitable and dignified job opportunities. This pioneering initiative not only symbolizes AAP’s commitment to employment generation but also signifies a paradigm shift towards inclusive growth. As the model gains traction, it promises to extend its impact to various corners of Delhi, ushering in a new era of socio-economic advancement at a micro level.

The ‘Rozgar Mela’ acts as a linking platform which brings together employers and job seekers in one place. The mela provided job seekers with the opportunity to meet potential employers, learn about job openings, apply for jobs and attend walk-in interviews. Employers, on the other hand, got to meet and evaluate potential candidates, and fill job vacancies with suitable candidates.

In order to provide a wide range of job opportunities to individuals from various backgrounds, the positions available encompassed a diverse array of roles. Companies like Zomato, Urban Clap, Yes Madam, HDFC, Kotak, Hospitals, Schools etc offered 3,000+ vacancies:

• Doctors & Multipurpose Health Workers

• Preschool teachers, Daycare teachers & Foreign language teachers, Sanskrit language teachers, Music teachers

• Civil Engineers, MEP Engineers, QS, Quality Analysts, Robotics, Assembly Line Production, CNC VEC

• Hospitality, Audit & Taxation, Accounts Executives

• Graphic Designer, Social Media Manager, Marketing Influencer, E-Commerce Executive, Marketing Strategists

• Cleaners, Tailors, Beauticians, Delivery Partners

• Insurance Agents, Loan Counselors, Collection Officer, Relationship Manager, Sales Manager & Executive, Field Executive, Business Development Executives

Because of the high demand for jobs among youth, the fest was held at a central location to attract a large number of job seekers and employers. It also had services such as a resume station to assist in resume making and career guidance. The mela witnessed a huge turnout of youth from neighboring areas as well.

Expressing her heartfelt wishes to the organizers, Smt. Reena Gupta emphasized the significance of the Mela beyond mere unemployment reduction. She highlighted its role in fostering economic growth by granting businesses access to a diverse pool of skilled, semi-skilled, and unskilled workers. Asserting that the initiative heralds a transformative era in employment, she emphasized its potential to unlock new possibilities and opportunities for ordinary citizens.

A job seeker expressed her gratitude and added, “I wasn’t able to find a job for the past 6 months, and now I have secured a job with HDFC Bank through this rozgar mela. Thanks to the efforts and dedication of CM Arvind Kejriwal, the fair helped me with my resume and provided me with a platform to give interviews to numerous employers.”
