Delhi: Chief Minister of Delhi and Chairman of Delhi Jal Board (DJB) Sh. Arvind Kejriwal on Sunday, January 6 inaugurated the work of providing & laying of sewer line in Kakrola Group of Colonies under Matiala assembly constituency.

Vice Chairman DJB Sh. Dinesh Mohaniya, Matiala MLA Sh. Gulab Singh, MLA Sh. Naresh Balyan and senior officials of the Delhi Jal Board were also present on the occasion.

Our government has done more than what was done in last 70-years: Chief Minister

Speaking at the inauguration, the Chief Minister said, “I ensure you all that this work will be completed within the timeline of 30-months. We are not like other government’s who just inaugurated the projects and thereafter never bothered about the real work. It is shameful that even after 70-years of Independence; there are colonies in Delhi which don’t have sewer lines and water pipelines. What did the previous BJP and Congress government’s do in these 70-years? It is a shame in the name of governance that the previous government’s failed to even provide basic necessities like sewer, water and roads to the people of the capital. The number of sewer lines and water pipelines in colonies of Delhi in the last three and a half years is higher than what the BJP and Congress laid in the last 20-years. More than 400 colonies got sewer lines and more than 400 colonies got water pipelines in the last three and a half years”.

“If we have done, why did they didn’t do it? It is a problem of intent, they never had the intent to do it, and they never wanted to work for you. You elected an honest government by choosing us and we have been working tirelessly for you. We have stopped corruption and that’s why we have more money to put in projects of public welfare. We are carrying out huge number of projects of public good all over Delhi. We have started development works in all the unauthorised colonies of Delhi (Sewer, water, road and drains) and I hope all these work will be completed in the next two years in all unauthorised colonies of Delhi,” said the Chief Minister.

“What we have done in the last three and a half years or four years can’t be compared to what the previous governments have done in the last 70-years. When we came to power, government schools were in shambles, no one wanted to send their kids in government schools. Now Delhi is proud of its government schools,” he said.

Further, the CM said, “When we came to power, electricity tariffs in Delhi were the highest in the country, but today I am happy to say that today after four years of our government, the electricity tariffs in Delhi are the cheapest in India. Power cuts were a regular problem for the people of Delhi during the previous regimes, but now, barring 2 or 4 areas, electricity comes for 24-hours. We have also introduced compensation for consumers for power cuts so that there are no power cuts. This is the first of its kind policy in the country. Governments of BJP and Congress can’t take these power companies head-on, but we did for the good of the people of Delhi. We are supplying free water upto 20 thousand litres per month to all families in Delhi. All medicines, tests and treatment have been made free in all Delhi Government hospitals. 190 Mohalla Clinics are running in Delhi and within 6-months 1000-Mohalla Clinics would be operational in the capital”.

“Our Mohalla Clinics and Schools are getting global praise; the world is appreciating the works done by the Delhi government,” added the CM.

Vote for those who work for Delhi, not for those who stop it: CM

Voting for Congress will strengthen Modi, don’t waste or split your vote: Kejriwal

“We have an election after three months. Please keep one thing in mind while you out to vote during these elections, the Modi government has left no stone unturned to stop Delhi government from carrying out projects of public welfare. They have waged a war against you. They try to stop Delhi government from doing any work. We want to install CCTV cameras all over Delhi; Modi government did not let the file move for three years. We fought hard to get the file signed; now the cameras would be installed from next month,” said the Chief Minister.

“We fought hard with the Modi government for the betterment of our schools, they stopped the files but we got them moving after a long struggle. We wanted to make 1000-Mohalla Clinics as soon as possible, but they sat over the file for one and a half years. We fought hard to get the file of 1000-Mohalla clinics cleared. The Modi government has waged a war against people of Delhi,” he added.

“You gave us a decisive mandate in 2015 (67 out of 70 seats) assembly elections. But you gave BJP all 7 MPs from Delhi and they created hurdles in the works of public good. If you would have given all the 7-Parliament seats to us, they wouldn’t have dared to stop the file of CCTV, Mohalla Clinic or any work of public good. If you would have given us 7-MPs, they would have fought for you in the Parliament and have got all the files cleared for you,” added the CM.

“So, when you go to vote this time, keep these things in mind” he said.

“Remember on the voting day that you have to vote for development of Delhi. And yes, don’t vote for Congress at all, if you vote for Congress it will strengthen Modi. Don’t let your vote split and give all 7-MPs to Aam Aadmi party,” said he.

We would have stopped Metro fare hike, sealing if 7 MPs of Delhi were from our party: CM

“Sealing is happening all over Delhi; several traders come to me and narrate their problem. BJP’s Central government and BJP’s MCD are sealing businesses in Delhi. We requested them in every manner to stop this. They just need to pass a one line law in the parliament to stop sealing. If BJP wants it can stop sealing in 24-hours. We requested them to pass the one line law in the parliament to stop sealing. But they are not passing the law. When I asked the people of BJP, they said that people of Delhi are with Aam Aadmi Party and Modiji doesn’t want the votes of residents of Delhi,” the CM said.

“The Modi government hiked the metro fares, I again requested them to roll it back, I requested them that the poor people of Delhi who earn just 15,000 a month would face huge problems, but they didn’t accept my request to lower the fares. If we would have 7-MPs, they wouldn’t have dared to hike the metro fares. The 7-MPs would have stalled the parliament and BJP would not have dared to hike the fares, he said.

BJP got 30-lakh votes, including 15 lakh of Purvanchalis votes, deleted: CM

“BJP fears defeat in Delhi. That’s why they got 30-lakh votes deleted all over Delhi. Out of these 30-lakh, 15 lakh are Purvanchalis. They got it deleted as they are against the people of UP & Bihar since long. You must have read how they treat the people of UP & Bihar in Mumbai. More recently you must have read in papers, how they manhandled people of UP & Bihar in Gujarat and made them leave Gujarat. Now they are doing the same in Delhi. The BJP people attacked Purvanchalis in Sangam Vihar, Tughlakabad and Patparganj. I have told everyone in Aam Aadmi Party, that if you come to know of any attack on Purvanchalis in Delhi, risk your life to save them; they should not be hurt. We have got the list of the votes deleted and we are in the process of getting these names back in the electoral rolls. This will be done in one month. We won’t let BJP succeed in their divisive agenda,” he added.

Modiji wants to raze down unauthorised colonies: Kejriwal

“When we formed the government in 2015, we sent a proposal to the Modi government for the regularisation of all the unauthorised colonies of Delhi. But now even after the passage of four years Modiji is not ready to accept the proposal and is sitting on the file. Around 2-years ago, I told Urban Development Minister Satyendar Jain and said that we can’t sit idle waiting for the Modi government to pass the proposal of regularisation of the unauthorised colonies. I asked him to start the developmental works in all the unauthorised colonies and give these colonies at least four things – water pipeline, sewer, drains and roads. We passed the budget and the work started,” added the Chief Minister.

He further said, “But the Modi government in order to terrorise us got an FIR lodged against Satyendar Jain. Is working for the people staying in the unauthorised colony a crime? Why are they trying to terrorise Satyendar Jain? Just because they don’t want the work to happen in these unauthorised colonies. But we won’t stop working for the people of unauthorised colonies. They can’t stop us or terrorise us”.

“Actually, Modiji thinks that the unauthorised colonies look very ugly. I have been told that he feels how he will show these colonies to his friends from other nations, so he wants to do away with them. If they come to power again, they will raze down the unauthorised colonies and give the lands to Adani & Ambani for constructing tall buildings in place of the colonies,” the CM said.

“This time when you go to vote keep these things in mind. If you give us 7-MPs, we will fight with more strength and never let anyone touch these colonies. We will make these unauthorised colonies beautiful by carrying out developmental works and beautification,” assured the Chief Minister.

Project Highlights

The project inaugurated is in line with the approach of the Delhi Government and DJB to provide every colony of Delhi with sewer lines. This not only helps keep the city and these colonies clean but also lifts up the living standard in these unauthorized colonies. This project will also help in the abetment of pollution in river Yamuna. Presently the sewage/wastewater is directly being discharged in river Yamuna.

The project includes providing and laying of sewer lines of 66.87 kms in Kakrola Group of colonies. On completion of the work the pollution in Najafgarh drain due to untreated sewerage flow from this area shall get mitigated.

The project will cost approx Rs. 31.77 crores and will benefit 90 thousand residents staying in these 25 colonies in Kakrola group of colonies in Matiala. The project will be completed in 30 months.
