The Aam Aadmi Party on Tuesday slammed the BJP for joining hands with the same leaders of the NCP that the Prime Minister Narendra Modi had accused of corruption barely a few days ago. Addressing a press conference, AAP Rajya Sabha MP Shri Sanjay Singh said that in his Bhopal rally last week, the PM had accused Ajit Pawar and the NCP for corruption worth Rs 70,000. However on Sunday, the NCP leader was made the Deputy CM of Maharashtra in the BJP-led government in the state. The case of Kirit Somaiya and Hasan Mushfir further reinforced Shri Sanjay Singh’s allegations. Kirit Somaiya, a BJP leader, had accused Hasan Mushfir of a 100 crore scam. Surprisingly, Mushfiqur is now a minister in the Maharashtra government, which calls into question the BJP’s commitment to rooting out corruption. Several prominent BJP leaders, including Himanta Biswa Sarma, Subhendu Adhikari, Shivraj Singh, Yedurappa, Narayan Rane, Pema Khandu, and Jai Panda, who have been shielded from scrutiny by PM Modi’s “washing machine.” These leaders’ past transgressions have been conveniently overlooked by the BJP. Shri Sanjay Singh’s allegations cast doubt on the BJP’s claims of being a corruption-free party. The accusations of hypocrisy and the protection of corrupt individuals within the party raise concerns about the BJP’s commitment to the nation.
Shri Sanjay Singh said that this has become a pattern of the functioning of the Modi Government and gave plenty of examples to highlight this point. “A couple of years ago in Assam, the BJP leaders had held a press conference and alleged a major water scam and even released a booklet stating that Shri Hemanta Biswa Sarma is the most corrupt person on this planet. The ED and the CBI at the time even conducted an investigation against him, but later when he joined the BJP, he was made the Chief Minister of the state. Similarly, for Suvendu Adhikari, in 2017 an investigation was carried out by the ED and CBI into the Sarada and Narada scams and he was said to be the main accused in these cases. But in 2020, he went on to join the BJP and was even made the Leader of Opposition in the West Bengal assembly,” he said.
He added, “Similarly, BS Yediyurappa was involved in a mining scam worth several thousand crores of rupees. But the BJP went on to make him the Chief Minister of Karnataka and then all the allegations against him disappeared. The fourth name is of Shivraj Singh Chouhan, who was involved in the Vyapam scam and other irregularities when it came to appointments in government services, but he has remained as the Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh for several years now. Similarly, Shri Mukul Roy, when he was with the TMC, was accused of being involved in the Sarada and Narada scams. But soon after he joined the BJP, he was cleaned with the Modi Washing Powder and after that all the cases were closed down.”
The senior AAP leader has several more examples to highlight his point. “The same is the situation with Shri Narayan Rane, who was initially accused of corruption by the BJP leaders themselves, but after he joined the BJP, he was made a Union Minister. Other infamous leaders who have been cleaned with the Modi Washing Powder include Shri Pema Khandu, Shri Baijayant Panda, Shri Purushottam Sawariya from Gujarat,” he said.
Focusing on the NCP leaders who were recently inducted into the Maharashtra assembly, he said, “As recently as a few months ago Hasan Mushrif had the CBI and the ED interrogating him in several cases. A leader of the BJP Shri Kirit Somaiyya had been alleging scams totalling over Rs 100 crore against this leader, but on Sunday he was made a Cabinet Minister in Maharashtra. Shri Chhagan Bhujbal, who is accused of the Maharashtra Sadan scam, was also made a Cabinet Minister at the same occasion. Another corrupt leader who was made the Deputy CM on the day was Shri Ajit Pawar. Just three days ago, Shri Narendra Modi has accused him and the NCP of scams worth Rs 70,000 crores.”
He added, “Similarly, Ms Bhavna Gavli was made the Chief Whip of the Shinde Shiv Sena group in the Maharashtra Assembly. She has been accused in scams and was summoned by the ED as well. Others in similar cases include Pratap Sarnaik, who is involved in a money laundering case.”
Shri Sanjay Singh said that by inducting the NCP leaders into the Maharashtra assembly, the BJP has revealed its true face in front of the nation. “This is the true face of Shri Narendra Modi and the Bharatiya Janata Party. A few days ago while addressing a rally in Bhopal, Shri Narendra Modi had said that it is Modi’s guarantee to catch all the corrupt leaders and put them in jail. But just three days later, that guarantee changed. Now, it seems as if the Modi guarantee is to catch all the corrupt leaders across the country and make them a minister in his government,” he said.
He further said, “A long time ago a film titled ‘Ram Teri Ganga Maili’ had been released. A song in this film states that the river Ganga has become impure by cleaning the sins of the people. Today this song fits very well on the image of Shri Narendra Modi. Modi has made the BJP so dirty by inducting all the corrupt leaders from across the country.”
He added, “Since 2014, this is all that the Prime Minister has been busy doing. Even the brands such as Rin and Tide are wondering what washing powder the PM is using to clean the sins of all these corrupt leaders. He has also gone on to steal the brand line of Ghadi detergent powder – Pehle istemaal karo, phir vishwaas karo. This is what PM Modi has been saying to all the corrupt leaders. I will explain to you how this Modi Washing Powder has been working across the country since 2014.”
The senior AAP leader said that even politicians with cases including that of murder and rape have been inducted by the BJP and the cases against them have closed because of the effect of the Modi Washing Powder. “Since he has become the Prime Minister in 2014, the sales of Modi Washing Powder have been cruising. This is because they can rid the corrupt of all charges including murder, rape, loot and corruption. You could loot the entire nation and this washing powder will clear you of all those charges as well,” he said.
He added, “It is very obvious that the Modi Government is using the ED-CBI to induct corrupt leaders into the party. The PM cannot catch a corrupt leader and make them join his party by holding a gun to their head, so he is using the ED-CBI to do that for him. These agencies are being used to overturn all those things that makes India a democracy.”
However, Shri Sanjay Singh said that this tactic of the BJP has failed miserably in Delhi. “The Modi Government tried to employ these tactics to force the brave AAP leaders Shri Manish Sisodia and Shri Satyendra Jain to break away and join the BJP. But because they refused, they are being framed in false cases and kept in jail. But how much ever the BJP may try, it will not be able to break the Aam Aadmi Party. So many false cases have been filed against AAP leaders, but still the BJP is not able to intimidate them. The Modi Washing Powder has been a failure in Delhi.”
He concluded, “Therefore Shri Narendra Modi should now stop talk about morality and ending corruption in the country as the people of the nation are aware that this is nothing but political lies. Whatever has recently happened in Maharashtra is a living example of this fact. The same leaders who the BJP earlier accused of corruption, they now will be joining hands with them and working in the Maharashtra assembly.”
