The Aam Aadmi Party criticized the BJP-led Central Government for the involvement of the Enforcement Directorate (ED) in an alleged corruption case. He emphasised that Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who refers to the ED as a means to eradicate corruption, has now become an extortion department. The Assistant Director of the ED has been caught accepting a bribe of Rs. 5 crore from the father of an accused to save him in the alleged liquor scam case involving seven individuals.
Along with a cash amount of Rs. 2.14 crore, jewelry worth Rs. 1.90 crore has also been seized from the CA in connection with this case.
On Tuesday, AAP Senior Leader and Rajya Sabha MP Shri Sanjay Singh held a press conference at the party headquarters and made these statements.
Shri Sanjay Singh stated that the alleged liquor scam is a completely concocted story, yet its investigation has been ongoing for the past 1 year. In reality, PM Modi established the ED department to break MLAs in non-BJP governed states and engage in corruption scandals, Shri Sanjay Singh alleged. He demanded an inquiry into the participation of various officials in this matter. Additionally, he appealed to the Supreme Court to take cognizance of this case and to shut down the ED department.
Shri Sanjay Singh stated that for the past year, both the ED and the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) have been investigating the alleged liquor scam. This is a completely fabricated scandal. No scam has actually taken place, yet the investigation is ongoing. In this case, the ED has repeatedly changed its statement. Sometimes, it claims a scam of Rs.100 crore and other times, it alleges a scam of Rs.1000 crore. The Aam Aadmi Party has exposed the true face of the ED multiple times. The ED subjected Chandan Reddy to physical torture, tore apart his eardrums, and extracted a statement from him. The ED threatened an individual by asking how his daughter would go to college. The ED held all of his mobile phones and falsely claimed that Manish Sisodia had broken them. The ED included my name in the chargesheet fraudulently, and when I served them notice, they admitted their mistake that they were supposed to write ‘Rahul Singht’ but wrote ‘Sanjay Singh’ instead. This means all those incidents happened in reality, and yesterday’s incident is a testament to the incidents that occurred in the past.
Shri Sanjay Singh said that PM Modi, claims that through the ED, ‘we will eliminate corruption.’ The favorite institution of PM Modi, the ED, has now turned into an extortion department. Now, it’s not the ED anymore; it has become a department of money-mongering. This statement is now being made by the CBI. The Assistant Director of the ED has been caught accepting a bribe of Rs.5 crore along with seven others. This bribe was taken from the father of the accused Amandeep Dhal in the alleged Delhi liquor scam case, supposedly to save him. This is the sad reality of the ‘Extortion Department,’ the ED has been doing the same thing for the past year. Under the guise of investigating the alleged scam, people like Manish Sisodia are arrested and thrown into jail, and false news is spread every day. After the Modi government came into power, the ED has continued this trend throughout the country. In the past 9 years, the ED has conducted 3,000 raids and has been able to prove allegations against only 23 people. That means a miserable conviction rate of 0.5 percent.
“Modi Ji, why have you established an extortion department, the ED, across the entire country? To defect MLAs in Maharashtra, Karnataka, Madhya Pradesh, Goa, Uttarakhand, Arunachal Pradesh, Delhi, Punjab, and in the entire country.” Modi Ji has granted the ED a license for bullying tactics all over the nation. The ED has been turned into a gang of troublemakers. I request the Supreme Court to shut down the ED department. There is no need for it. It’s just the wing of the BJP’s bullying. Ed has now become BJP’s extortion department. The ED is involved in extorting during the investigation of scams. The ED is committing corruption while investigating the corruption. The ED officers are doing this because they see that Modi Ji uses them to catch MLAs in Maharashtra. Then they threaten those MLAs and have cases filed against them. After that, they give the MLAs a Rs.50 crore deal. The MLAs take the 50 crore deal and align themselves with the government. And the ED officers end up getting no extra money. In this way, the ‘Indian Khoka Party’(Indian Corrupt Party) has created khoka officers(corrupt officers). Due to this, the Assistant Director of the ED, in the name of saving an accused in the alleged Delhi liquor scam case, has taken a Rs.5 crore bribe. A portion of the extortion money collected by the ED also reaches the BJP. This involves various officers of the ED. A thorough investigation into this should also be conducted. The ED department should be immediately closed down. This department has become dangerous in the country. They have been granted a government license for bullying and extortion. Shri Sanjay Singh added.
While explaining the method of operation of the Enforcement Directorate (ED), Shri Sanjay Singh stated that the ED officials will catch someone, throw them in jail, subject one to physical assault, tear apart their ears, extract false statements against any politician, and leak them to the media. After that, they will catch that politician and put him in jail. This same pattern has been going on for the past year. Everywhere, people are asking the ED where the money has been seized, but the ED isn’t able to disclose anything. They raided Manish Sisodia’s village, checked his bank locker, and conducted searches at his home, but found nothing substantial. Yet, allegations are still being made against him. The ED officials catch someone and put them in jail. Then they tell them that they need to give a statement against this person, and in return, they will arrange for their bail. After that, they take money from them, arrange for their bail, bring them out, and coerce them into giving fabricated statements.
Shri Sanjay Singh further added that the investigation of the alleged liquor scam should be thrown into the dustbin. All the officers of the ED who are engaged in money extortion should be caught and put in jail. It’s quite shameful that Modi Ji has created an institution that is engaged in breaking, buying, laundering, and promoting corruption among MLAs all over the country. The Supreme Court should take cognisance of this incident.
“Those corrupt individuals who have been cleansed by PM Modi’s washing powder will not face any action. There will be no action against Himanta Biswa Sharma, Subhendu Adhikari, Mukul Roy, Ajit Pawar, Chhagan Bhujbal, Hasan Musrif, Yeddyurappa, Reddy Brothers. The entire country can see that the ED has been established solely for bullying and money extortion. Are these officers paid salaries from people’s tax money to engage in extortion and corruption?” Shri Sanjay Singh concluded.
