Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) National Convenor Arvind Kejriwal attended the mass marriage ceremony organised by Veer Mandhata Koli Samaj Sangathan in Bhavnagar, Gujarat, where Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann also joined him in blessing 151 newly married couples. Addressing the gathering, Arvind Kejriwal said the Koli Samaj has made a very significant contribution to Gujarat’s progress and development, remains at the forefront of social work across Gujarat and the country, and that its children possess immense talent and the ability to achieve great things if provided proper education, skills, resources and opportunities by the government.
AAP National Convenor Arvind Kejriwal stated, “This is a very sacred day when 151 couples are being married together at the same time. There is an atmosphere of happiness all around. Even when one boy and one girl get married, there is so much joy in the air. Here, 151 newly married couples are tying the knot together, so there is no limit to the happiness. Everyone’s faces are filled with joy.”
He continued, “I want to extend my heartfelt congratulations to Raju Solanki and Brijraj Solanki for doing such a noble deed. I also want to congratulate Veer Mandhata Sangathan for undertaking this pious work. For the past 12 years they have been doing this noble work. In these 12 years, they have facilitated the marriages of more than 2000 girls in this very ground. Three or four years ago, they organised the marriage of 501 couples together at this place. It is said that performing ‘kanyadaan’, the sacred ritual of giving away a daughter in marriage, is the greatest virtue. I believe that the virtue Raju Solanki and his son Brijraj Solanki are earning, and the amount of virtue that all the office bearers and the entire organisation of Shri Veer Mandhata Koli Samaj Sangathan are earning, is truly remarkable.”
The AAP Chief added, “I also want to tell all the newly married couples that today you are beginning a new direction in your lives and starting a new phase. There will be many occasions when there will be disagreements and arguments. But you must stay together like the two wheels of a railway train. In married life, if even one wheel becomes weak, the train cannot move forward and the vehicle of life cannot progress. You must always remember that only when both wheels are strong will the journey move ahead. I pray to God to bless you with immense happiness. May all the couples be blessed with great joy and progress in life.”
Highlighting the role of the community, Arvind Kejriwal said, “Today’s programme is being organised by Veer Mandhata Koli Samaj Sangathan. The Koli Samaj in Gujarat and across the country is engaged in social work in many places. Today we are seeing that the President of the Akhil Bharatiya Koli Samaj Sangathan from Delhi is present here. Across the country and especially in Gujarat, the Koli community has always remained at the forefront of social work. The progress and development that Gujarat has achieved, and the work that has been done in Gujarat, has a very significant contribution from the Koli community. The children of our Koli community are very talented, very hardworking and deeply patriotic. If they are given proper opportunities, proper education, appropriate skills and resources, then the children of the Koli community can achieve unimaginable success. Across the world, members of the Koli community are bringing glory to the nation
