A political storm erupted in Parliament after senior Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader and Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Singh raised the issue of the Epstein files, triggering a sharp and visibly agitated response from Prime Minister Narendra Modi. What should have been a routine demand for accountability escalated into a combative exchange on the floor of the House, with the Prime Minister launching a broad attack on AAP leaders.
Senior AAP leader and Rajya Sabha MP hit back, asserting that the Modi government’s discomfort was on full display and posing a pointed question that now hangs over the debate: what is it in the Epstein files that has rattled the Prime Minister so deeply?
Sharing a clip from the Prime Minister’s speech on social media platform X, Sanjay Singh stated, “Today the Prime Minister launched a fierce attack on me, on Arvind Kejriwal, and on our party in Parliament. This clearly shows his agitation. The Prime Minister is so agitated because I asked him to clarify the issue of the Epstein files in Parliament.”
Raising further questions, Sanjay Singh asked, “What is there in the Epstein files that has made the Prime Minister so agitated? Is this the reason why he is bowing before Trump?” Addressing the Prime Minister directly, he said, “We will not allow you to sell India into the hands of America in this manner, even if you send me to jail again.”
It is noteworthy that two days earlier, Sanjay Singh had strongly attacked the government in the House over India’s foreign policy. He had said that the Epstein files were being discussed across the world and that remarks were being made about the Prime Minister of India in connection with these files, with allegations leveled against him. He had stated that the government must provide a clarification on this matter. “If allegations are being made, then an explanation must be given. This is an insult to our country. Allegations are being made against the Prime Minister of India, and the government does not want to respond,” Sanjay Singh had said in Parliament.
Continuing his critique, Sanjay Singh had also said that while the Prime Minister talks about becoming a ‘Vishwaguru’ and claims that his stature resonates across the world, the reality tells a different story. He pointed out that Indians were sent back from the United States to Amritsar with handcuffs on their hands and shackles on their feet. He further said that the world has witnessed how the President of the United States, Donald Trump, has claimed at least 70 times that he enforced a ceasefire by threatening a trade deal.
