Arriving in Gujarat on a three-day visit on Saturday, Aam Aadmi Party National Convenor Arvind Kejriwal delivered a blunt assessment of the state’s political and governance record, asserting that three decades of BJP rule have left Gujarat mired in corruption and decay.
The AAP Chief said dissent against corruption is being silenced through intimidation and imprisonment, argued that the Congress has lost the trust of the people, and claimed that the swelling crowds at AAP rallies over the past six to seven months reflect a growing public resolve for political change in the state.
Speaking to the media during his visit to Gujarat, AAP National Convenor Arvind Kejriwal, “For the last 30 years, Gujarat has been under BJP rule, and in these 30 years, the BJP has pushed Gujarat completely into a pit. The condition of the state has been made extremely bad. There is fear and corruption everywhere. People are intimidated and threatened. Anyone who raises their voice against them or against injustice is caught and sent to jail.”
The AAP Chief said, “BJP leaders are openly involved in corruption, and no one can raise their voice against their corruption. Today, people are looking towards the Aam Aadmi Party with great hope.”
Highlighting the growing public response to the party, Arvind Kejriwal said, “For the last six to seven months, across the entire Gujarat, from north to south and from east to west, Aam Aadmi Party rallies and meetings are being held everywhere, and massive crowds of people are turning up.”
The AAP Supremo underlined that the party does not have money power behind it and that the public is participating out of conviction. “We do not even have money. People are coming to AAP meetings by spending their own money. Till now, people were disappointed and kept asking, if not the BJP then who? People have no hope left from the Congress. But now, people are looking towards the Aam Aadmi Party with great expectations.”
Giving details of his visit, Arvind Kejriwal said that he has come to Gujarat on a three day tour. “During this visit, I will meet and interact with all party volunteers. I will sit with them and prepare the future strategy together. A large number of new volunteers are joining the party at the booth level, taluka level and district level across the state. All of them will have their oath taking ceremonies,” he said
