The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has questioned the Delhi Police’s seriousness after the killers of party ‘karyakarta’ (worker) Rachna Yadav remain at large, even days after her brutal murder. Seeking immediate arrests, Delhi Unit President Saurabh Bharadwaj has asked for time to meet the Police Commissioner, but has received no response so far. On Thursday, he tagged the Commissioner on social media platform ‘X’ with a video of Rachna Yadav’s two daughters, seen folding their hands and pleading for justice.
Sharing a video and addressing the Delhi Police Commissioner, AAP Delhi State President Saurabh Bharadwaj stated, “We are trying to meet you in connection with the brutal daylight murder of Rachna Yadav. Her husband was murdered two years ago, and she was the main witness in that case. There had been life-threatening attacks on her earlier as well, yet the police took no action. These two daughters are pleading for justice. First their father was murdered, and now their mother has been killed.”
Detailing the incident, he said, “Rachna Yadav was murdered in broad daylight outside her home in Shalimar Bagh. The crime scene is barely 400 metres from the residence of Chief Minister Rekha Gupta. Rachna Yadav was also the President of the Residents Welfare Association (RWA) of BC Block. Her two daughters are devastated and inconsolable. The daughters say their father was murdered two years ago, their mother was a witness in that murder case, and she was about to testify in court. To stop her from giving testimony, Rachna Yadav had already been attacked twice earlier.”
“Rachna Yadav’s condolence meeting was held on Tuesday, and neighbours are discussing how Chief Minister Rekha Gupta lives in the same neighbourhood but did not come to console the grieving family. Does the Chief Minister not even have this much time now,” he pointedly asked.
Questioning law and order, Saurabh Bharadwaj said, “The daylight murder of Rachna Yadav raises serious questions about Delhi’s law and order. Since this incident, there is an atmosphere of fear among the people of Delhi. This murder took place in Shalimar Bagh, the Assembly constituency of Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, and that too just a short distance from her residence. Despite this, the killers are still absconding. This clearly shows how seriously the police are working and how committed the BJP government really is towards strengthening law and order.
