At a massive ‘jansabha’ (public meeting) in Chandni Mahal Ward-76, senior Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader and MP Sanjay Singh and former minister and Gujarat Prabhari Gopal Rai campaigned in support of candidate Muddasir Usman Qureshi, asserting that Delhi will no longer fall for the BJP’s bluff and will sweep the upcoming MCD bypolls. Sanjay Singh asserted that Arvind Kejriwal has served the people day and night by providing free electricity, water, education and treatment, while the BJP formed its government through false promises and fraud and then destroyed everything after coming to power. The event was attended by former cabinet minister Imran Hussain along with other senior leaders.
Senior AAP leader and Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Singh stated, “Muddasir Usman Qureshi is a dedicated worker of the party and we hope that the people of Chandni Mahal will ensure his victory with a huge margin. On 30 November only the ‘jhaadu’ button should be pressed in Chandni Mahal and this is what the people here must ensure. After forming the government the BJP has ruined Delhi very badly and within just eight months the BJP has destroyed the entire city.”
He continued, “Arvind Kejriwal’s government served the people of Delhi day and night by providing free and quality education, free electricity, free water and free treatment. However the BJP conspired, committed fraud and murdered democracy to capture power in Delhi and now the BJP has completely devastated the city.”
Appealing to voters, Sanjay Singh said, “If you believe that this brother and son of yours is fighting strongly against PM Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah then I fold my hands and request you to send the Aam Aadmi Party candidate to victory from here with a huge margin. I am confident that the people of Delhi will not let this fight of the Aam Aadmi Party weaken and this time they will press the ‘jhaadu’ button and ensure the victory of the Aam Aadmi Party candidate. This time the people of Delhi will not fall for the BJP’s deception.”
Meanwhile, Gujarat Prabhari and former Delhi minister Gopal Rai stated, “Voting for the by-elections in 12 wards of the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) on 30 November is now very close. Until now many people were busy with their work and occupations but it is time for everyone to sit together and discuss who should win from the Chandni Mahal ward on 30 November. The by-election is underway in Delhi. Four candidates are moving around inside Chandni Mahal. One candidate is from the Aam Aadmi Party, the second is from the Congress, the third is from the BJP and it has been found that a fourth candidate who is a ‘fake lion’ is also roaming around.”
Gopal Rai continued, “Today there is not a single Member of Legislative Assembly or Member of Parliament from the Congress in the whole of Delhi and for the last fifteen years not a single Congress MLA has won inside Delhi. This time as well the Congress will not be able to win from the Chandni Mahal ward and neither can the ‘kamal’ bloom from Chandni Mahal. The BJP also knows that it cannot win from Chandni Mahal and the Congress is not in a winning position either. Therefore the BJP has conspired to defeat the Aam Aadmi Party by putting up a fake lion as an independent candidate and people are being asked to vote for him. The BJP has never won from Chandni Mahal and this time its security deposit will also be forfeited.”
Pointing to the rise of Aam Aadmi Party, he added, “Earlier the power across the country remained only with the Congress and the BJP but for the first time the Aam Aadmi Party was born in Delhi. With the blessings and votes of the people the Aam Aadmi Party came to power and under the leadership of Arvind Kejriwal created a record of work. Earlier people would withdraw their children’s names from government schools and admit them to private schools but today they are removing their names from private schools and getting them admitted to government schools.”
“Arvind Kejriwal gave the people of Delhi excellent schools, Mohalla Clinics, free electricity and water and dignity. When there was a ‘Modi wave’ across the country even then the BJP was reduced to only 8 seats out of 70 in Delhi and on three seats its security deposit was forfeited. Yesterday as well Arvind Kejriwal fought against the BJP, today he is fighting and will continue to fight in the future,” he asserted.
Warning of public anger, the former Delhi minister further said, “Only eight months have passed and the entire Delhi is saying that if elections were held today then even the BJP’s previous eight seats would not be saved. There is so much anger among the people. The BJP is now conspiring. Just as votes were cut through SIR in Bihar the same preparation is being made in Delhi.”
“To counter every conspiracy of the BJP the ‘jhaadu’ must be ensured a massive victory from Chandni Mahal. The Aam Aadmi Party and the ‘jhaadu’ mean work and this is what the BJP fears. Out of fear the BJP first sent Arvind Kejriwal to jail then Manish Sisodia, Satyendar Jain and Sanjay Singh were sent to jail. The BJP thought that the Aam Aadmi Party would break like in Maharashtra but these are the brave soldiers of the Aam Aadmi Party. The BJP has the Enforcement Directorate (ED), Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) and other agencies but the Aam Aadmi Party has the blessings of the people,” he emphasised.
Gopal Rai went on, “The Aam Aadmi Party made Shoaib Iqbal an MLA, made his son a councillor, made him the first Deputy Mayor of Delhi and then made him an MLA again. He was given four opportunities and that was justice. But as soon as the ticket was given to Muddasir Usman Qureshi who is the son of a common person he chose the path of injustice. The only crime of Muddasir Usman Qureshi is that he is the son of a common man. He is neither a goon, nor does he extort money, nor does he misbehave. He is the most decent candidate. Yet Shoaib Iqbal is roaming behind the BJP’s remote-controlled fake lion. I appeal to Shoaib Iqbal’s conscience to think with a cool mind at night. The party which gave him and his family four opportunities must now be supported by ensuring the victory of candidate Muddasir Usman Qureshi, otherwise the Almighty will not forgive.”
Concluding, Gopal Rai said, “If people want the son of a common man to win then this fight is not just of Muddasir Usman or Imran Hussain but of every common man. Four days are left and every person must take out two hours to meet their relatives and neighbours and this time ensure that the BJP’s fake candidate loses his security deposit and that the ‘jhaadu’ wins with record votes.”
He made people raise their hands and take a pledge and led slogans. “We will fight, we will win. Inquilab Zindabad. We had made the ‘jhaadu’ win, we will make the ‘jhaadu’ win again,” he assured.
