Aam Aadmi Party (AAP)’s Delhi State President Saurabh Bharadwaj, during a visit to Chief Minister Rekha Gupta’s constituency Shalimar Bagh, highlighted bold posters asking residents to choose between an “educated councillor” and a “pradhan-pati” from ‘Phulera ki Panchayat’. He revealed that even today official meetings, inspections and directives in Delhi are being handled not by the Chief Minister but by her husband, who holds no constitutional authority to do so.
Pointing to what he witnessed in Delhi CM’s constituency, senior AAP leader and Delhi State President Saurabh Bharadwaj stated, “Here I saw a very interesting poster. It is displayed as far as the eye can see. It says ‘People from Shalimar Bagh Ward 56 must decide whether they want an educated councillor or pradhanpati from the Phulera ki Panchayat.’”
He reminded that these allegations have followed CM Rekha Gupta for a long time, stating that even when she was a councillor, her husband used to hold meetings with officials. “Now that she has become the Chief Minister, the situation remains the same and all the work is still being done by her husband. He regularly holds meetings with officers, he regularly conducts inspections, he regularly gives his own directions. There are many photos and videos of this,” shared the senior AAP leader.
Highlighting the message written on the poster, Saurabh Bharadwaj asserted, “Today the public has given this message that whether they want a ‘pradhanpati’ from the Phulera ki Panchayat or whether they want an educated councillor. I believe this message should reach the Chief Minister and she should understand that if she is a woman Chief Minister, she must do her work by herself. Her husband has no right and no constitutional or legal authority to hold meetings with officers or to conduct inspections. This is wrong.”
