A powerful groundswell of public support marked the second day of the “Rojgaar Do, Samajik Nyay Do” padyatra, as AAP’s Uttar Pradesh Prabhari and Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Singh led thousands through Ayodhya’s Chandpur, Harbanshpur and Dhabasemer on Thursday, pushing forward a campaign demanding employment for the state’s youth and social justice for Dalits, the oppressed and the marginalised.
At Nahriya Chowki, Ajit Singh along with hundreds of AAP workers and local residents greeted Sanjay Singh and accompanying leaders with an enthusiastic reception, a pattern repeated across Masodha by Sagar Sharma, at the Roadways Workshop by Ram Pratap Yadav, in Bharatkund by Ashok Kumar Gond, in Pipri Jalalpur by Vinod Kumar Rawat, and at Shahganj Mod by Alok Dwivedi and large gatherings of supporters. The 13-day, nearly 200-km march will continue from Ayodhya through Sultanpur and Amethi before concluding in Prayagraj.
Addressing the gathering, senior AAP leader and UP Prabhari Sanjay Singh said Uttar Pradesh has today become the state where unemployment stands at its peak. He stated that if any state has the highest number of unemployed people in the country, it is Uttar Pradesh. “The crisis is not limited to the lack of government jobs; farmers, weavers, and people connected to cottage and small industries are also suffering from severe economic distress and lack of livelihood opportunities,” he noted.
The AAPMP pointed out, “Farmers do not get fair prices for their produce, they lose their lives standing in queues for fertiliser, and they are driven to suicide under the burden of debt. ASHA workers, Anganwadi workers, Shiksha Mitras and instructors are still waiting for regularisation.”
The AAP UP Prabhari also highlighted deep inequality in the education sector, pointing to the reservation scam in teacher recruitment and the hurdles created by mandatory Teacher Eligibility Test (TET) exams. He added that small industries are shutting down, and young people are facing a grave employment crisis.
Speaking on the second major theme of the padyatra, Sanjay Singh said Uttar Pradesh ranks at the top when it comes to social discrimination and injustice. He said, “Even today, incidents of discrimination against Dalit communities at temples, weddings and public places continue to surface. Manipulation in reservation is common. From police stations to tehsils, there is no open door for justice.”
On Day Two, AAP’s call against unemployment and inequality echoes across Uttar Pradesh, padyatra receives overwhelming public support
The second day of AAP’s padyatra against unemployment and inequality witnessed strong participation across Uttar Pradesh. At multiple locations, people gathered to welcome the leaders and joined the march to express their solidarity. MP Sanjay Singh said this padyatra is not a political event but a fight for people’s rights and dignity. He said the struggle will continue until every individual has access to employment and equal rights.
Sanjay Singh said, “Every step taken in this padyatra is meant to secure employment for the state’s youth and restore the right to live with dignity for Dalits, OBCs, the oppressed and the marginalised,” he asserted. Appealing to the public, Sanjay Singh said, it is time to raise one’s voice for rightful entitlements. He urged people to step out of their homes and join the padyatra to fight against widespread injustice and oppression, and to send a clear message to the government that equal opportunity and dignity can no longer be denied.
Young people must get employment and Dalits, OBCs, the oppressed and the marginalised must not face caste discrimination: Sanjay Singh
Sanjay Singh said, “AAP wants to build a system in which every young person gets dignified employment and where no Dalit, OBC, oppressed or marginalised citizen faces caste-based discrimination. Democracy cannot be truly strengthened until the last person in society receives justice and equal opportunity. Employment and social justice are the real markers of a nation’s progress, and the AAP is firmly committed to this mission.”
